iTexico, a software technology services company, focuses on helping businesses with mobile and cloud development throughout a project’s lifecycle. Since 2010, iTexico has experienced 500% growth and provided services to more than 100 customers. The company maintains strong business partnerships with large-scale companies, including Appcelerator, Kofax, IBM, Xamarin, and Microsoft. Our interview below is with Anurag Kumar, CEO of iTexico:

Anurag KumarQ: iTexico is a software services company. Could you tell us a little more about the company and your key services?

A: iTexico is a fast-growing Austin-based software services company that offers fast, convenient, and cost-effective mobile and cloud solutions and extended software teams. We started 4 years ago, and today we employ more than 110 professionally trained mobile and cloud developers and provide dedicated teams for mobile and cloud development, UI/UX, QA & testing, and support. We have developed an innovative Extended Team as a Service (eTaaS™) model that allows our clients to build a team of project managers, analysts, and developers, which they can utilize whenever they need for as long as they need.

At iTexico, we want to exceed the expectations of our customers and their users with innovative products and services. We produce the best possible mobile and cloud solutions in a fast and affordable manner. But we don’t stop there. Even after the development is complete, we provide businesses with continued support, allowing companies to quickly update and expand their existing mobile and cloud applications with a team that already understands their needs and priorities.

Q: How does iTexico differ from other software services companies?

A: Our key point of differentiation is captured in our tagline: “Smarter Software Development. Agile, Here, and Now.” We call it Nearshore+ (Nearshore Plus). What that means is that we provide our customers with a number of benefits that other offshore or nearshore software services companies cannot offer. For instance, one major difference between iTexico and most offshore and nearshore companies is that iTexico is actually a US company.

90% of our leadership team works out of Austin, TX, which not only allows for much more real-time communication but also gives our customers more security in all business contracts. And with our wholly owned delivery center located in Guadalajara, Mexico, (same time zone as Central Time Zone in the US), there’s significantly larger opportunity for collaborative and real-time work with clients—no late night calls or communications limited to emails only.

Secondly, being just a few-hour flight away from all major U.S. cities means our customers’ local teams and our Guadalajara teams can easily meet for more face-to-face interactions, which is extremely valuable because it speeds up the development process by building more trust and a higher level of understanding between the teams. Many of our clients even invite their teams to spend a week onsite and vice versa.

And last but not least, there is also no need to worry about IP theft. The North American Free Trade Agreement between the U.S. and Mexico provides increased protection of intellectual property rights, a benefit that other offshore and nearshore companies in India, China, and even Costa Rica can’t provide.

Having led multiple Indian software development companies, I understand both pros and cons of outsourcing to teams far away and multiple time zones apart. With our model of a US-based company with our own delivery center in neighboring Mexico, we have brought all the pros and eliminated most of the cons commonly associated with outsourced software development.

Q: iTexico has developed an innovative Extended Team as a Service model, could you tell us something more?

A: I think we all know how tedious, stressful, and expensive the hiring process can be, especially for technology professionals. Finding the right talent for your software development projects is not an easy task, and it’s even harder to retain a good developer. That’s where we jump in.

We want to free our customers from this stress by expanding their team’s developmental capacity with highly qualified professionals for a duration of their choosing without having to deal with the hiring and retaining process. We give our customers the talent they need when they need it. That’s why we’ve developed our Extended Team as a Service (eTaaS) model. It offers unprecedented flexibility in staffing up (and down) project teams based on real-time needs.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: We intend to grow our staff and capabilities in our delivery center aggressively. Our goal is to double our capacity to over 200 professionals in 2015. We also intend to keep adding more technologies and expertise to our services. Currently, we are working on adding Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, and IoT (Internet of Things). We also plan to expand our eTaaS model by adding Agile development process.

We have been providing Extended Teams as a Service for a while now and have come to realize that Agile development process can help us deliver Business Outcomes to our customers. When we add Agile to eTaaS, we don’t just give you a team of developers that’s ready to work with you. We give you an Agile development team led by a certified Scrum Master, who will get your project completed on time with the functionality and quality you need. Ultimately, we want to give our customers the best possible service and product we can offer, and we do everything we can to make that happen.
