Below is our recent interview with Craig Koopersmith, Chief Executive Officer at Skyline Houston and Innovative Environments:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: I lead one business with two brands. Skyline Houston is THE leader in tradeshow & event marketing from pre-show strategy & education to successful show-floor presence/execution. Innovative Environments (IE) is the premier partner for transforming your vision into creative, impactful spaces. We provide visual communication that amplifies your presence and tells your story in-office and around the globe.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: I’m super proud of our team’s ability to make a solid culture shift, innovate despite the pandemic and continue to make a profit. I also think that the expansion of our 80,000 sq ft facility with a 35,000 sq ft fabrication space for our wood and metal shop is a clear differentiator.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: Skyline Houston helps customers approach tradeshows creatively from initial strategy to the design of the actual tradeshow booth to post-event follow-up that generates sales. During the pandemic, we cross-trained the Skyline Houston staff on the offerings of Innovative Environments and motivated the team to think of creative ways to help clients with corporate interiors and signage as well as multi-family signage. While tradeshows are in full swing again, many of them have evolved and experts can help professionals maximize their tradeshow presence to generate an ROI.

The IE team is exceptionally talented in understanding a customer’s culture and translating that into interiors that fully celebrate that culture. There’s no reason for a company to accept a bland work environment. The push for hybrid work has led to many employees working from a mix of home and office. This fundamental shift has motivated business leaders to reexamine and update their interiors to create atmospheres where employees thrive and connect in meaningful ways. Corporate interiors plays a huge role in this and Innovative Environments leads the way.

Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: I expect both companies to continue growing — both from a profitability standpoint as well as a cultural perspective. I believe continued strengthening of our company culture will fuel employee and customer satisfaction, which in turn drives profitability. One of my favorite quotes is by Peter Drucker: “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.”

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: Executives often say that their people are the most important company asset. I couldn’t agree more. That said, how an organization lives out its values is indicative of how much it prioritizes its people. I’m a strong believer in constant innovation and empowering our people to think creatively and strategically. This management approach encourages every employee to be accountable to each other and seek ways to constantly improve. That’s a very rewarding environment to work in.
