Below is our recent interview with Jessy Savage, Owner & CEO at Victoria Digital Marketing:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Victoria Digital Marketing?
A: Victoria Digital Marketing is a full scale digital marketing agency that builds bridges for resources for all avenues of marketing, alongside our digital roster. We pride ourselves on being a coalition of creatives, and partner with locals in Victoria and Vancouver to provide a range of marketing services – from traditional media, print, digital, web design, radio – everything. We create collaboration instead of competition.
Q: Who is your ideal client and why?
A: Our ideal client has never been defined by budget or services – really, we work with a plethora of clients and industries. However, our niche industry is real estate and real estate development, as we were able to identify and anticipate a downward trend in what has been a bustling market for a few years now. Over the last few years we’ve researched, learned, and pivoted our agency model to become real estate marketing experts for realtors, property managers, and real estate developers to develop strategies for sales in a cooling market.
Q: Can you tell us about your services?
A: Our core services are website design – we focus in WordPress, but extend to Shopify and Squarespace to accommdate budgets, or to help with e-commerce capability. Our next up specialty is search engine optimization – technical SEO, on-page and off-page SEO, local SEO – everything – we love SEO. We live and breathe SEO. We also provide social media management, newsletter marketing, and paid advertising.
However, we partner with local advertisers to also provide print marketing materials, graphic design, hosting and web security, copywriting, branding, photography and videography, content creation, radio/television, billboards – everything.
Q: What can we expect from Victoria Digital Marketing in next 12 months? What are your plans?
A: Our plan is continual, and adequate growth at a steady pace. One of the biggest mistakes a digital marketing agency – pr any company – can make is rapid expansion. We plan to grow strategically and at a realistic pace. I provide a 30% wage budget for my employees for new skill training, so we practice some incredible personal and professional development at VDM. Over the next 12 months, I’d personally love to hire another 2 staff members and continue training and providing growth opportunities for myself, my company, and my staff.
Q: What is the best thing about Victoria Digital Marketing that people might not know about?
A: Victoria Digital Marketing was built in response to the COVID-19 pandemic after I was laid off from one of the best jobs I ever had! I took the opportunity to learn at my own pace (voraciously) and put my skills to the test and find my own clients. Fairly quickly I found myself with a great roster of clients as a freelancer, and decided to pivot the company to an agency model, which inspired more rapid growth.
During the recent expansion, as owner I set up a company policy of a quarterly donated website – we’ll be moving into our third website donation come December – this was actually a charity donation through our local Chamber of Commerce, and a program we’re ecstatic to be able to focus on and provide smaller businesses in our local communities with the opportunity to receive a great website to help boost their business. Additionally as mentioned, we have our personal development fund for in-house staff to provide continual training, mentorship, and courses.
