An Interview With Steven Dominici, RANDY SUN’s United States Managing Director

Below is our recent interview with Steven Dominici, RANDY SUN‘s United States managing director:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your brand?

A: With 20 years of experience in the sock industry, and four long years spent on research and development for our waterproof socks – RANDY SUN was created to provide outdoor sports enthusiasts with an unparalleled waterproof experience. We have achieved exciting success in North America, becoming the #1 selling waterproof socks on Amazon. We have distributors around the world bringing our quality products directly to our consumers and we pride ourselves on integrating the feedback from our diverse customers to always strive to make our product better.

Our R&D team has perfectly solved the conflict between waterproofness and breathability of waterproof socks. We know functionality doesn’t have to conflict with fashion, so over the years our designers have made sure to update and refine each design year after year to create products that are high quality, functional, and attractively designed. Each product undergoes strict waterproof testing before leaving the factory to ensure that you get the best product. No matter what you use them for, our waterproof socks are ready to take on the challenges of any weather and terrain.

Q: Can you tell us more about your products?

A: RANDY SUN waterproof socks are suitable for anyone active in the outdoors. From hiking, fishing, or working outdoors, our socks will keep your feet dry. Not only will our socks keep your feet dry, but they are also thermal, and provide warmth. Our waterproof socks come in knee high, midcalf, ankle, and low-cut as well as different thicknesses to cover any climate or weather condition.

RANDY SUN has also expanded into other waterproof apparel to include waterproof hats, shoes, and gloves. We most recently launched an ultra-lightweight waterproof jacket that has received excellent customer and influencer feedback.

Fashion and functionality are our main concerns. We don’t only offer simple designs, but bright and avant-garde options as well. Function forward products don’t have to be dark and boring, we focus on combining contemporary designs with advanced textiles and our exclusive waterproof technology. This sets us apart from other waterproof socks on the market. We develop products based on focus group feedback to keep our customer’s wants and needs at the forefront of our business.

Q: What can we expect from RANDY SUN in next 12 months? What are your plans?

A: Our dream has always been to bring high quality waterproof products to every corner of the world. We plan to launch new products for adult and kids every year. We currently sell our products in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, a few countries in the Middle East, India, and Singapore. We plan to welcome more distributors in more regions and countries this year. Some countries don’t currently have a waterproof socks market and we plan to expand to these countries and spread awareness about the dangers of wet and cold feet and provide our product as a solution. We also plan to join other nature loving groups and organizations in the coming year. We are looking forward to finding distributors that share the same passion and enthusiasm for outdoor recreation.

Q: What is the best thing about RANDY SUN that people might not know about?

A: The best thing about RANDY SUN is our customers. The best way to explain this is to share a few stories.

In 2021, Kristen sent us an email asking if we could make toddler-sized knee high waterproof socks for her child who wore orthotics. That’s what motivated us to develop children’s ultra-thin knee-high waterproof socks. Kristen and her son maintained very active involvement with us during the development process and we are grateful for their input and suggestions. We are happy to be able to help them, and hopefully other children who wear orthotics, which gives a new meaning to the products we create.

On another occasion, we sent a pair of our waterproof socks to an influencer in Minnesota who happily tried our product and loved them. She shared with us that she suffers from Raynaud’s syndrome, a condition that causes her hands and feet to become cold and numb in certain environments. We immediately sent her our wool terry waterproof socks and waterproof gloves to try out. They were able to keep her hands and feet warm and dry and ease her symptoms while enjoying the outdoors. This opened our eyes to the need for waterproof apparel not only for outdoor recreation, but also health and safety.

Our customers inspire us to think outside the box and open our eyes to more possibilities within the waterproof apparel market. We are always experimenting with unconventional waterproof products, such as split-toe waterproof socks. If there is demand from a group of our customers, we will try to meet it. Due to the intricacies of the waterproof socks production process, we are not always able to produce a satisfactory special product, but we will always try. Our customer input is what drives our success and ability to come up with new and better ideas.
