Q: What is the motto that guides BlueSnap’s decisions?

A: Our goal every day is to help merchants convert more shoppers to buyers. We wake every day to deliver payment technology that helps merchants address the problem of checkout abandonment. We see a fast-changing payments landscape and view it as our role to help merchants navigate that change.

The checkout abandonment problem has driven the development of the Powered Buy Platform™. As a brief explanation, the checkout abandonment problem is caused by three primary issues – checkout friction, consumer confidence and payment processing declines. Checkout friction occurs when there are too many steps or fields, by not displaying local currency, or only offering limited payment choices. Consumer confidence can be affected by not providing local languages, security logos and badges, or coupons. Lastly, payment processing declines can be caused by lack of acquiring banks (which means no retries or failovers), aggressive fraud rules declining transactions for issues like cross-border, currency mismatches, and large transaction amounts not processing properly.

Without addressing the checkout abandonment problem, merchants could be losing out on lots of potential sales. Businesses put significant resources into driving traffic and converting traffic into buyers; we want those investments to payoff by solving checkout abandonment.

Q: What are your plans for next six months?

A: On our journey to help merchants convert more shoppers to buyers through our Intelligent Payment Routing technology, we plan to add even more acquiring banks to provide merchants with more optimal banks for their customers as well as more retry and failover capabilities. We also are adding functionality to give merchants access to their conversion reports at their fingertips. Merchants will have the ability to generate their own reports and make decisions for their business based off of these comprehensive reports. Lastly, we have already added MasterPass as a mobile wallet payment option, and we plan to release even more wallets for merchants to allow customers to use. Checkout should be frictionless, and with the addition of these mobile wallets, many merchants will see their conversions increase substantially.

Q: How would you convince the reader to start using BlueSnap?

A: Conversions, conversions, conversions. More often than not merchants aren’t aware that a few simple changes to their site can earn them a lot more money from their existing traffic. Our merchants are seeing 10% all the way up to 40% higher conversions by deploying our payment technology. We want to help other merchants see this increase as well. We want to help merchants convert more shoppers to buyers and stop losing customers at checkout.
