Berlin based startup Dalia Research develops software that makes asking questions to anyone, anywhere – simple and efficient. Dalia Research solution – Samplive gives you access to users through thousands of apps, mobile websites and social media sites. Nico Jaspers, Co-Founder and CEO of Dalia Research, talks with us about his startup:

Nico JaspersQ: For those who have never heard of it, how would you describe DaliaResearch?

A: At Dalia Research, we’re building software solutions to make asking questions to anyone, anywhere as simple as possible. We are applying some of the latest technology used in mobile advertising to generate “smart” data, which enables our clients to better understand how markets around the world function and to detect future trends. We just conducted a major test of our technology platform, generating millions of answers in 64 countries.

Q: Could you tell us your story and something more about your team?

A: We started in October 2013 with the idea of building an software architecture that enables us to access mobile publishers such as news and social media apps, games or messaging services around the world to ask their users questions. The founding team consists of Fernando, a full stack developer with over ten years experience in web-development; Hanns, a former executive at a Project A venture with expertise in mobile marketing; and Nico, with a background in market and opinion research. We currently have nine full-time employees with expertise in data engineering, data science, product management and web-development. We`re headquartered in Berlin.


Q: How are you funded?

A: Soon after having founded the company and with only the rudimentary structure of the software in place, we were fortunate enough to attract angel investments from renown entrepreneurs in Berlin as well as Texas Atlantic Capital, the German Startups Group and WestTech Ventures. This gave us the resources to turn a technology-idea into what has become one of the strongest platforms for mobile market and opinion research. 

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: Mobile research is still a very young industry, especially in Europe. As a first mover in an industry with amazing growth potential, we were able to develop strong partnerships with some of the largest international market research firms in a relatively short time. Our goal for the next year is to turn our technology into the leading software solution for collecting smart data through mobile devices in over 100 countries worldwide.
