DevSecCon Offers Knowledge And Learning Opportunities For People Working In Development, DevOps And Security

Listen to this article

In 2015 the first DevSecCon conference was hosted in London. It was so successful that now, in 2017, DevSecCon takes place in three locations across the globe. It is the world’s only conference dedicated to DevSecOps – the practice of building security into development processes. DevSecCon’s events are packed with inspiring presentations by industry experts and networking opportunities, making it an invaluable event for anyone working in Development, DevOps and Security.

Below is our interview with Francois Raynaud, the Founder of DevSecCon:

Q: Your upcoming conference will be held at Boston’s Exchange Conference Center; tell us something more?

A: Boston has always been a striving city for Tech and a perfect place for DevSecCon to enter the US market. We are having great support from many Boston tech companies, who will be showcasing their DevSecOps products and services in the exhibitor areas at DevSecCon.

During the two conference days, 16 new and seasoned speakers from around the globe – cutting edge practitioners and leading figures from the DevOps, Security and DevSecOps industry – will be sharing their knowledge and experiences of continuously secure delivery. Attendees will learn about ways to implement security as code in the overall development process, from the supply chain to the customer experience. They will find out how to apply security to match strategic business objectives and radically rethink their approach to secure development and delivery.

With two conference tracks, attendees can choose the sessions that are most relevant to them. On the main stage industry experts will be sharing their ideas and experience in inspiring talks, bringing you up to scratch with the concepts and challenges of DevSecOps. The second track is dedicated to workshops, which are hands-on and full of practical take-aways that can be implemented immediately.

DevSecCon will also offer plenty of opportunities to exchange thoughts and develop new professional relationships with fellow attendees over complimentary breakfast, lunch and networking drinks.

Q: What will major highlights of the event include?

A: We are particularly excited about the upcoming sessions from our keynotes: Kevin E. Green, Software Assurance Program Manager at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Elizabeth Lawler, Vice President of DevOps Security at CyberArk. Together they will be showing ways to tackle security decisions at the desired speed and scale without sacrificing the required safety, in both the government and private sector.

This offers an excellent opportunity for attendees that have experienced major roadblocks in their organizations because of the security threats associated with the traditional IT security practices. DevSecOps shifts security from reactive to proactive, supported by different techniques such as Test Driven Development and Attack Driven Defense. It champions the importance of security at all levels of an organization, and empowers security staff to make decisions that have a positive influence on their business.

Q: What’s the achievement you are most proud of?

A: Seeing how DevSecOps, as both a concept and a practice, is growing all the time, with an increasing number of organizations implementing DevSecOps as a solution to their security issues. As a conference organizer and security professional it has been a great pleasure to help spark this movement and improve the security posture of modern software development.

Q: What are your plans for next year?

A: Next year will see further growth of DevSecCon with conferences planned in new locations such as Jakarta, Tel Aviv and Argentina in addition to London, Singapore and Boston. Furthermore, we have recently created the DevSecCon Academy, a platform for established and innovative training courses, that reach across different specialization areas of DevSecOps. The coming year will see an expanded list of trainings on offer, immersive courses catering for both individual professionals, as well as tailored solutions for companies and teams.
