Q: ActivTrak debuts on-premises deployment option; could you tell us more about that?
A: Of course! We created this offering to suit the needs of our growing Enterprise customer base. They love our system, but prefer control over where their data is housed, the hardware that houses it, and the security settings that protects that data. We think the best way to improve our product is by listening to what our customers want and providing the most useful solution to their needs. So, naturally after a big enough demand, we made the decision to develop the on-premises version of the product. Our latest feature focuses on data leak prevention measures, or DLP.

Q: Could you tell us more about ActivTrak’s key features?
A: The three biggest features that really power our product are the easy-to-use conditional Screenshots, Real-Time Monitoring and our User Activity reports.
Screenshots allow you to capture the screen of the computer you’re monitoring. It shows the administrator exactly what the user is looking at in real time. This is one of our most popular and unique features, because you can completely control and adjust when screenshots are captured.
Real-time Monitoring allows you to see exactly what’s happening right now. The ability to instantly check-in on your entire teams’ activities is an invaluable asset. Whether you’re performing regular maintenance, or you just have hunch something is going on, real-time monitoring gives you the information you need now.
ActivTrak’s User Activity reports really allow you to fully understand the data without having to know anything about data science. Our reports are easy to read and more importantly, they’re designed to bring useful information directly in front of the administrator. This makes it easy to spot inconsistencies, and then dive deeper into the multi-layered reports to understand activities in granular detail.
While our other features like Website Blocking, Activity Alarms, and Scheduled Monitoring are also used quite heavily, the three features described above really tell the administrator most of what they need to understand. In most cases the other features are designed more for you to control and take action against unwanted activities.

Q: What are your plans for the next four months?
A: We’ve just released a mobile app for viewing purposes, and we’re finishing up work on a new Agent that will allow us to monitor computers running Chrome OS. In addition to that, we’ll be rolling out some data leak prevention functionality designed to protect sensitive information within our users’ data.
One more exciting development we’re working on is better handling of USB insertions and document transfers.
Q: How would you convince the reader to start using ActivTrak?
A: How would I convince someone to create a free account? I’d ask them what their employees are doing right now. I’d ask where their teams inconsistencies are or if they know who is a potential target for a cyber-attack. You really have no idea what’s happening in that black box of a computer until you can see who’s doing what and for how long.
However; we don’t believe that we need to convince anyone to use ActivTrak. The software speaks for itself. In fact, we provide the service for free. I encourage everyone to create a free account with us to see what kind of data they’ll get from their personal computer.
