Q: What’s the story behind FishMySpot? How did you start?
A: Growing up, we always wanted to fish the untapped private ponds we would past in a little town in Northeast Ohio. While attempting to fish at nearby ponds, our neighbors were not pleased and would kick us off their property. As we aged in to adults and had small children of our own, going to a public lake that was overfished and crowded was not fun for a child that was looking to catch a fish. So, we thought why not ask permission for fishermen/women? Pond owners generate an income, anglers receive the joy of fishing untapped ponds, while at the same time we build a community and connection between the two groups.

Q: What are the benefits of pond sharing?
A: There are many benefits to share your pond. First, pond owners generate a passive income and can receive tax benefits annually. Secondly, you provide a new and enjoyable experience for families and fishing enthusiasts. Third, you create a healthy eco-system for your pond. If your pond or stream is not fished enough, you will run into the common problem of ‘too’ many fish that are growth stunted and need to be harvested. It is important to maintain a balance. Lastly, sharing your pond will provide the monetary means to pay for the maintenance of your pond, stocking your pond and even landscape.
Q: What’s the best thing about FishMySpot that people might not know about?
A: FishMySpot is growing the fishing community through uncovering local, untapped ponds and asking permission for you!
Additionally, our mission is to provide unique fishing opportunities for families and fishing enthusiasts that connects them with nature, the community and each other.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: We have big plans for the future. Our goal is to expand in Ohio, New York and Georgia for 2020. Our 5-year plan is to be present in 20 states throughout the country. We also plan to expand our company to include other outdoor activities that will provide local access to the outdoors.
