Below is our recent interview with Hilary Hirsch, Co-founder of Julbie:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Julbie?

A: Julbie.com launched its official online presence in 2015 as an online retailer of women’s sexy apparel in lingerie, swimwear, costumes rave, dresses, and hosiery. We developed these verticals for the symbiotic relationship they all share with each other and how they connect with a woman’s social and sensual journey.

The vision behind Julbie is to deliver risqué clothing that sexually empowers women to be fearless advocates of their body and self-image. We believe that sexual confidence translates into self-confidence that permeates throughout many areas of a woman’s life. Whether she’s looking for sexy lingerie to spice it up with her husband or a sexy dress to wear for a ‘night on the town’, we have her covered! There’s a power that comes with dressing sexy, and we’re here to unleash it!

Q: What makes you stand out from your competition?

A: We love our customers! We believe that customers are actual human beings, not data points on a spreadsheet or annoyances to deal with. We treat every customer with respect, honesty, and gratitude, which is what sets us apart from our competition.

Julbie was co-founded by a woman which is unique in the industry. Surprisingly, many men dominate the lingerie industry. We are unique in that our business was not only co-founded by a woman but is backed by a female voice that women can relate to. No offense to men, but a man’s vision of sexy lingerie is warped by his intentions with interacting with the product. What’s been missing from the lingerie industry is the female voice that speaks to why women should wear sexy lingerie for themselves.

We also offer a Best Price Guarantee program that allows customers to price-match products that may be cheaper on a competitor’s site with ours.

Q: Do you offer your customers the ability to return or exchange their product?

A: Yes and Yes! We allow up to 60 days from the date a customer receives an item to return it in its original condition for refund. We do not charge any restocking fees and we allow customers the convenience of processing their own return label through our online return portal. Some products are excluded from returns due to hygienic and sanitary reasons: G-string bikinis, body stocking and fishnet lingerie, beauty products, and panties.

If a customer wants to exchange a product we offer free shipping both to and from our facility to the customer.

Q: You’ve recently launched the release of the lingerie style guide; could you tell us something more?

A: The Lingerie Style Guide was launched as an effort to compile all information related to lingerie in one place. There are many terms and jargon with lingerie that can be confusing to someone who may be purchasing lingerie for the first time. We wanted to make it concise and bring some uniformity to the industry’s language. We have many customers who want assistance with styling lingerie to their body type. Not everyone has the body shape of a supermodel, so the Lingerie Style Guide also provides helpful tips and assistance for women of different body types to select lingerie that would be flattering to their shape.

The sexy lingerie that we provide at Julbie is much different from what you would find at Victoria’s Secret or another lingerie store. Our goal at Julbie is not to deliver the ‘best structured bra’, there are plenty of other lingerie retailers already doing that, but to provide sexy lingerie for purposes outside a woman’s normal everyday intimate attire. Today, women are choosing to wear sexy lingerie as statement pieces that complement an outfit. Lingerie has developed from strictly intimate apparel to an outward expression of a woman’s confidence in her own sex appeal.

Q: What sort of challenges have you faced in acquiring customers over the years?

A: One of the largest problems we face as a new company is developing brand recognition and trust with customers. The Amazon effect disrupted the entire retail industry, and we see this in our industry as well. Many customers prefer to only shop on Amazon due to the convenience of fast and reliable shipping, accessibility of products, and extremely low prices. We have built our business around a similar model that offers many of the same core benefits that Amazon customers expect, but on a platform that has its own identity and brand that customers can relate to.

Q: What can we expect from Julbie in the future?

A: Julbie is growing at an excitingly fast pace! We aim to deliver the same core benefits to customers with enhanced product offerings. We will be delivering more options that people already love in areas like micro bikinis and lingerie, and proprietary offerings exclusive to Julbie customers. People are going to love it!
