Meet Haglit – A Chatbot That Sits On A Merchant’s Product Page, And Allows Consumers To Haggle For Items They Buy Online

Below is our recent interview with Jon Simms, Co-Founder & COO at Haglit:

Q: This is the first time we have spoken. Can you provide a brief overview of Haglit?

A: Absolutely! In short, Haglit is a chatbot that sits on a Merchant’s product page, and allows consumers to haggle for items they buy online. We built Haglit because there is no real engagement in everyday online purchasing. So, we wanted to provide the world with something unique but at the same time, something that humans have been doing since the dawn of time. The consumer walks away with an individual discount they’ve earned and are therefore more likely to convert into paying customers. For the merchant, they have the benefit of increased sales, higher conversions and more brand loyalty as people return to haggle on other products. We also provide a full suite of website analytics that captures their customer data for retargeting purposes. We like to think we help turn visitors into customers, It’s a win win!

Q: What are your key features?

A: Our main feature is the chatbot that engages, negotiates with, and converts the online visitor into a paying customer. All the merchant does is set the maximum limit, and then let Haglit manage it from there! The data analytics go into granular detail on how each Haglit managed product on their site is performing. It features data on; what visitors like on your store, how far in the purchase process they go and how much revenue Haglit is making for them. We then provide GDPR compliant data so that customers can be re-targeted specifically for the items they’re interested in.

Q: Can you describe to us the way you help customers in online stores?

A: When a store visitor sees a product they like, we tempt them with a ‘Make an Offer’ button. It’s human instinct to press it! They are then greeted by Haglit, our super helpful AI sales assistant! Haglit will engage in conversation and encourage them to start the haggling process. It’s great fun and provides an emotional connection between the product and the visitor. After a few interactions the haggle reaches its natural conclusion and the visitor has the option to either add to basket or go straight to cart. They can then check out with their own discount they worked hard for!

Q: What’s your revenue model? How are you funded?

A: We have what we call Saas+. A conventional monthly subscription fee, alongside a small commission percentage on every sale that Haglit generates.

We are still a young business, we have raised $100k to date through a renowned tech entrepreneur and we are now in the process of raising a further seed round of $840k.

Q: What are your plans for the future? Do you have any new features in the pipeline?

A: We have a well thought out roadmap which involves a significant step change in the operations of the company as we grow. We are built for scale and we want people to think of Haglit everytime they shop online. As I mentioned earlier, we are a young business but with big aspirations. Our next goal for the business is to be the number one plugin on WooCommerce, Shopify and Magento.
