Vitro Technology Focuses On Protecting Data And Communications Through A Novel Approach To Device Security

Listen to this article

Below is our recent interview with Creighton Beery, Business Development Director at Vitro:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: Vitro is an IoT hardware and software services provider. We focus on protecting data and communications through a novel approach to device security. The security model is rather complicated, but to put it in simple terms our platform enhances operational efficiency while addressing IT and operational technology security problems – using a zero-trust approach to keep someone who hacks the IT network from affecting operational technology and someone who attacks operational technology from impacting IT network cybersecurity. Vitro controls a crucial patent on the process of autonomous device provisioning via low-cost, cryptographic hardware and we’ve leveraged it to tackle our nation’s most complicated infrastructure problems.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: I think the big takeaway from our recent announcement is the Air Force’s newly found innovation infrastructure that enables small businesses and non-traditional contractors to help support our armed forces. Without it, there’s no way a startup would ever get the chance to demonstrate and deploy an innovative solution in remote nuclear missile silos. The other big takeaway has to do with cyber resiliency, it’s a huge pain point across the nation. This year we’ve seen a huge spike in security breaches primarily from state-sponsored actors, the new battleground is cyber. This conclusion is frightening when considering all of the operational technology we rely on for daily and mission-critical activities. This is the opportunity that Vitro is focused on, securing our nation’s critical infrastructure and ensuring cyber resilience.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: The miracle of ECC cryptography is the mathematical proof of authenticity, Vitro leverages this security tool to verify and secure operating data. It’s the same process that’s used to secure blockchains, we just use it in a novel way. Our goal is to make sure that the virtual tools we all rely on accurately reflect the real world. I think people would be surprised to know how much of their lives are impacted by dashboards, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. From power, water, oil, gas, defense, etc all of these critical activities rely on virtual tools that inform operators. Vitro’s role is simple, to make sure these virtual tools can be relied on and trusted to make decisions.

Q: What can we expect from your company in the next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: Currently, we are working on another Air Force project surrounding Flightline logistics and liquid oxygen at Hickam, AFB. I didn’t know this prior to my work in defense, but liquid oxygen is a critical input to any high altitude flight, it’s a pilot’s main source of air at altitudes exceeding 10,000 feet. We’re really excited to help modernize their operations and make them more efficient. The Lt. Colonel we’re working with estimates our solution will cut down operations and maintenance time by 30%. In addition, we will continue to scale our efforts with Global Strike Command at F.E. Warren, AFB. We are also looking at strategic fundraising to help support our activities securing critical infrastructure.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: I think the best thing about our company is the leadership, David Goodman, our founder, and CEO is a die-hard innovator who’s product obsessed. To use colloquial’s, he’s a serial entrepreneur who’s successfully exited 3 startups to public companies. He’s been bitten by the innovation bug and simply can’t retire, he’s constantly iterating products, concepts, processes, structures, etc. It’s really refreshing to work in an environment with a leader who’s constantly challenging the status quo and is passionate about forward progress.
