WellCaster Pro- A Perfect Solution For Companies Searching For A Corporate Wellness Program

Listen to this article

WellCaster’s goal is to serve up wellness content in an engaging video format in a way that motivates the user to adhere to the program, make a positive behavior change in the form of a habit, and then make sure the habit sticks. The content is delivered right to the most accessible device in our lives – the mobile phone. The daily content is done in very small “doses,” so even busy people can find a couple minutes to experience the WellCast.

Below is our interview with Jay Goss, President of WellCaster:

Jay-Goss

Q: WellCaster was founded in 2013, could you tell us something more about the company?

A: We got started developing WellCasts for consumers, and then very quickly realized that WellCaster was a perfect solution for companies searching for a corporate wellness program for their employees, but didn’t want to spend a ton of time and money implementing a complex program.

Q: Is there a particular problem you are in love with (so to speak) that you are striving to solve with WellCaster?

A: Yes. In a word – adherence. Everything we do with our mobile tech platform as well as with the individual WellCast titles (that cover wellness areas such as getting off sugar, reducing stress at work, yoga, sleeping better) is laser focused on adherence. You could say we are in love with adherence. People can get access to self-help content in a hundred different ways. WellCaster’s goal is to serve up wellness content in an engaging video format in a way that motivates the user to adhere to the program, make a positive behavior change in the form of a habit, and then make sure the habit sticks. If we can make that happen, than the ROI is incredible.

Q: What were the main challenges you faced in developing the company?

A: What really differentiates WellCaster from the dozens of other wellness related apps out there is that as a company we are a hybrid between a mobile tech firm and a content production studio. This is our “special sauce,” and it took some time to find our balance. Today, we have an incredible team of technologists, plus a production team that produces new WellCasts. For example, this past summer we wrote, shot and edited new WellCasts with Gabrielle Reece called Getting Off Sugar and Mahankirn on Reducing Stress in the Workplace.

Q: You’ve recently introduced a new mobile app, tell us something more?

A: WellCaster Pro is the “enterprise” version of WellCaster, designed with corporations in mind. In includes all of the functionality of our original app, but it also has features that are important to corporate clients, such as reporting. We also, earlier this year, introduced the app for Android (in addition to iOS).

Q: What are your plans for 2016? Do you have any new features in the pipeline?

A: We are working on several new WellCasts, covering brand new areas including financial wellness/literacy, diabetes management, longevity, and emotional intelligence. These are some of the most in-demand topics among employers and employees. Each of these WellCasts will be narrated by a “celebrity” subject matter expert in their particular field. Increasingly, we are also being approached by companies that are in the business of educating people about certain wellness topics, and are looking for the newest, most effective delivery mechanism for their educational content. WellCaster is just that, and so we looking forward to doing more and more of this type of work.

Q: How would you convince the reader to start using WellCaster Pro?

A: So much of what makes WellCaster really work are no-brainers. The information is delivered in video, which of course is the preferred medium for absorbing this type of information. The content is delivered right to the most accessible device in our lives – meaning the mobile phone. The daily content is done in very small “doses,” so even busy people can find a couple minutes to experience the WellCast (attention spans aren’t what they used to be). The videos are incredibly engaging, and we now have WellCasts that address just about every category of wellness. And if you think about it from the perspective of an HR executive inside a company looking to implement a program for employees, the beauty of WellCaster is that a conversation on Monday can lead to an implementation on Tuesday. It’s that simple.
