Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Global Technology Systems?
A: For over 18 years, GTS has been designing, engineering and certifying high quality batteries and chargers that give more power to the mobile devices that modern organizations depend on every day. Q: Can you give us insights into your products?
A: GTS designs power solutions for mobile devices including mobile computers, barcode scanners, portable printers, wifi phones, two-way radios, and more. GTS products are 100% compatible with original equipment manufacturers (OEM) devices and offer industry leading warranties.
GTS has three managed service options that will help cut battery costs, labor costs and service costs to help organizations control their mobile power management. Those services are Test & Replace™, Battery Color Coding™ and Batteries as a Service BaaS.)
Test & Replace™:
Our patent pending Test and Replace™ technology is a free service that allows you to easily and efficiently identify, replace, and recycle bad batteries right onsite. Testing is fast, easy and can be done by your staff, your mobility vendor, or by GTS. By placing the testing probes on the battery prongs, you will know if the battery is good or bad in about 5 seconds. Before Test and Replace™, there was no way of identifying bad batteries
Battery Color Coding™:
Battery Color Coding™ is a cost-effective way for companies to easily observe the aging of their battery fleet by using colored batteries. Instead of the traditional black batteries, we make custom device batteries in annual colors to visually determine the warranty status of your batteries. Because GTS designs and manufactures its batteries, we can quickly produce custom colored batteries for high volume clients who prefer to refresh their battery inventory at specified time intervals or milestones.
BaaS:
Batteries don’t last forever, and over time, they lose the ability to hold a full charge. The tricky part is trying to identify the good batteries from the bad. They all look the same, and therefore typically remain in the inventory pool. For a flat, monthly fee, GTS and its partners ensure that all of your mobile device batteries are working optimally and will automatically replace and recycle the bad ones when necessary. This fixed operational expense (Opex) instead of random capital expenditures (Capex) will not only make your financial management happy but it will allow you to focus on your core operations and never worry about mobile batteries again!
GTS has developed innovative mobile power management solutions that fit every organization’s needs by helping to improve productivity and save their bottom-line from unseen spending caused by bad batteries. These services are interchangeable to fit every company’s unique mobile power needs.
Free Lithium Battery Recycling Program:
As mobile power innovators and manufacturers, it is our responsibility to support our customers in their battery recycling process. GTS provides a Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Program that offers a 50¢ credit for each GTS or OEM Lithium-Ion battery a company sends for recycling.
GTS will provide customers involved in the program with free battery recycling boxes at each enrolled facility. Once the battery recycling box is filled, simply call the toll-free phone number and it will be picked-up and properly disposed of by a GTS-certified recycling firm. We will send a rebate which can be used with future GTS battery purchases—one recycling credit per new battery purchased.
Q: Why do bad batteries cause big problems?
A: Bad batteries clog up mobile operations with excessive costs and it’s impossible to identify and remove them from facilities. Many organizations believe they may have mobile device problem, when they are actually experiencing a bad battery problem. With good batteries, organizations will eliminate staff downtime and productivity loss caused by mid-shift battery failures.
Q: Why is it important to recycle batteries?
A: Mobile batteries consist primarily of chemicals and metals that enable a lightweight battery to hold a charge. However, these chemicals and metals can be dangerous if stored beyond their useful life. This is why it is important for your client to recycle Lithium batteries properly. As batteries age, they become more volatile and pose a greater risk to employee and customer safety. Lithium batteries should never be kept in use longer than three years. In fact, replacing and recycling them after two years of use is the best and safest practice. Government initiatives and shipping regulations have been put in place to help encourage the proper recycling of batteries.

Q: What’s the thing about batteries that people might not know about?
A: Bad batteries cause big problems! Thousands of handheld mobile devices get sent in for repair each year but get sent back with no trouble found. We see it all the time. Organizations don’t understand that their device is failing because the batteries they are using are old and cannot hold a full charge. Bad batteries are costing organizations thousands in labor, inventory service and sales costs.
Q: What can we expect from Global Technology Systems in the future?
A: We like to say that GTS thinks about batteries 24×7 so you don’t have to. GTS will continue to lead the way with better mobile batteries, better chargers and better ways to manage your mobile business. There are many things at various stages the development queue right now at GTS. For example, we are close to putting into full production unique, locking charging stations for POS devices to be sure that retailers are complying with the latest PCI regulations.
