Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

According to recent industry reports and numbers, ‘catalog’ records accounted for a stunning 82.1% of total recorded music consumption in the US in the second half of 2021. Yes, over 82% of the U.S. music market is now claimed by catalog records, rather than new releases. The opportunities have never been greater for artists and labels to actively promote their new releases and ‘catalogs’ to global radio at the same time.

With the global Covid lockdowns and restrictions over the past couple of years, touring has become an almost impossible strategy for most artists. As a direct result, fans have been turning to radio more and more for entertainment and comfort. Likewise, pro-active artists and record labels are searching for ways to build upon their brand and maximize their ROI for their music catalogs. Big name artists have been selling their catalogs for astronomical amounts. As catalog’s relevance and importance continues to rise it is creating fresh exposure opportunities for artist and label catalogs to increase their value in-part by growing their global radio distribution and promotion footprint.

We will also be announcing some exciting new label partnerships in the next few months. Watching these great records be digitized for the first time and then re-released to global radio and fans worldwide is an incredible experience to be a part of.

AirPlay Direct is looking forward to both supporting and attending industry conferences again this year. Unfortunately, due to Covid we have not had these important events over the past couple of years and it had a really negative impact on the industry as a whole. Conferences are a great place to meet up with old friends and business partners to discuss new opportunities. They are also a great place to network and develop new relationships. For me as a fan, they can also be a great place to discover new music.
