Below is an interview with Devandran Karunakaran, the Founder of DK Consultancy:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: At DK Consultancy, our focus is on advising clients in the ship finance, energy and renewables sectors by identifying general and specific risks and just as importantly, finding commercially viable and realistic solutions leading to the complete eradication of the risk in question or risk mitigation. We also help clients with short, mid and long term strategy planning/structuring and execution.

Q: Can you give us more insights into what makes your company unique?

A: As Founder at DK Consultancy, I have more than 15 years working closely with clients in the shipping, energy, finance and renewables space. A qualified lawyer by profession, I have spent a large part of my career working in private practice as well as in-house at a bank and separately, with a renewables company. A large part of my role as lead counsel on the various projects I have worked on involved risks identification and mitigation.

Q: Can you give us insights into your products?

A: The key product we offer is bespoke consultancy services, tailored to suit the requirements of the client. As such, we could be engaged to handle one particular issue which a client is facing, such as negotiating on behalf of the client with a difficult off-taker or creditor. Or we could be engaged to help solve a client’s liquidity issues with sourcing suitable funding including providing finance structuring advice. Lastly, a client may choose to engage us to handle a top to bottom review of the client’s company.

Q: What are some of the main objectives for your company in the year ahead and how do you plan to achieve them?

A: The main objective of DK Consultancy for 2023 is to leverage our excellent existing relationships to expand our presence in the Asian offshore energy market.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: Above all else, we value our relationships with clients. Without them, we would not have a business but also, a lot of personal satisfaction is derived from the successful completion of a project which leaves a client happy.
