EfficientIP Promotes Business Continuity By Making Your IP Infrastructure Foundation Reliable, Agile And Secure

Listen to this article

EfficientIP is a Network Automation and Security Company specialized in DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (IPAM) – a combination commonly known as DDI. Ronan David, joined EfficientIP in 2004 to transform the company into a DDI software vendor, building the go-to-market strategy and leading the sales operations. Below is our recent interview with Ronan David, VP of Strategy at EfficientIP:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to EfficientIP?

A: Created in 2004, with now over 1000 customers worldwide, we simplify management and strengthen security of enterprise & service provider networks.

Our mission is to enable dynamic and secure communication between users and apps, by automating and protecting the network foundations of IT infrastructures – the DNS-DHCP-IPAM Services.

With this, we help organizations to improve their business continuity, service deployment agility and user experience, while reducing operating costs. Companies in all sectors rely on EfficientIP offerings to face the challenges of key IT initiatives such as cloud applications and mobility.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your solutions?

A: In the last few years, we have seen a dramatic increase in network complexity & security risks due to digital transformation and IT modernization. IT initiatives such as Cloud, Virtualization, Mobility, IoT, BYOD, SDN, DevOps, etc. have driven new needs for automation & security for IP-based networks.

DDI (DNS-DHCP & IPAM), are core network foundations, playing a fundamental role in these IT initiatives, in particular for connecting management silos, thus making DDI a key IT initiatives enabler:
● DNS ensures access routing to almost all applications & services. If the DNS service is affected, users are unable to reach their critical apps. So basically “no DNS means no business”.
● DHCP provides IP addresses to connect users and devices to the network. Without this, they are not connected.
● IPAM maintains a central “IP Source of Truth” repository and ensures the orchestration of DNS-DHCP and IP address deployment to maintain overall network consistency and error-free configurations. Managing IP addresses quickly become very complex when you have more than a few dozen IP addresses to look after. Use of an IPAM solution becomes mandatory.

EfficientIP DDI solutions enable IP communication and simplify network management with global visibility and smart automation across the entire infrastructure (on-prem, private cloud, public cloud). Our patented technology secures DNS services to safeguard data and ensure intelligent application traffic routing for improving user experience and service continuity. Our open APIs ensure easy integration to management and security ecosystems, enabling end-to-end network automation.

Q: Who is your ideal user and why?

A: Our solutions bring value to companies of all sizes across all verticals. Every company uses an IP network, so they need DNS and DHCP services to function.

Having said that, an ideal user of an EfficientIP DDI solution would be someone like:
a network manager responsible for managing his or her IP network, who is suffering from challenges including:

1. Limited and siloed visibility and management of allocated resources across networks, restricting capacity planning control
2. Inexisting consistency control, causing duplicate allocations and DNS/DHCP configuration errors
3. Time-consuming and error-prone manual tasks leading to poor change management agility
4. Scalability issues making it impossible to cope with management of millions of IP Addresses, or numerous DNS-DHCP servers
5. Lack of consolidated IP data inventory for automation & orchestration of IT tools/processes across ecosystem

EfficientIP brings an easy-to-use solution that will enhance operational efficiency. Unlike manual spreadsheets, home-grown solutions, or separated DNS, DHCP, IPAM solutions, our product integrates and automates DNS, DHCP and IPAM services to bring up to 80% time savings for network administrators, while reducing configuration errors to almost zero and enhancing user experience by minimizing DNS response latency and providing industry leading performance.

Q: What can we expect from EfficientIP in the next 12 months?

A: Innovation is in the DNA of EfficientIP, and we are committed to continue offering disruptive solutions for improving network management simplicity and strengthening security. In the current COVID-Era, it is even more important to help our customers to accelerate their strategic IT initiatives such as Cloud or workforce mobility, to transition faster to the “New Normal”.

We will release new solutions to better protect against APTs and more specifically DGA (Domain Generation Algorithm) malware thanks to new machine learning-based technology, and a new approach for controlling user access to applications, wherever they are, on-prem or in the cloud.

On the automation side, ecosystem integration, process standardization, and AI-based data classification are key focus areas for us. As well as helping enterprises accelerate time to market for apps and services, this automation will be vital for telcos and service providers on their path towards autonomous/zero touch networks, particularly as they roll out their 5G networks.

In summary, we will enable our customers to leverage their DDI services and data to augment their visibility, control, and management agility.

Q: What’s the best thing about EfficientIP that people might not know about?

A: EfficientIP DDI offers organizations an IP services management framework / control plane that brings ROI up to 263% (stat produced by Tolly Research) when deploying and managing services and apps.
