Below is our recent interview with Rachel Reboulet, Director Of Laboratory Services at Inspirotec:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Inspirotec?

A: Our company comprises a team of professionals that aspires to ease the day-to-day issues for allergy and asthma sufferers. We empower asthma and allergy sufferers to take control of the way they solve the problem of allergies and asthma in their homes. Our Exhale service provides customers with the ability to collect airborne allergens and mold in their homes with our proprietary air sampling device. Customers then ship these collected samples to Inspirotec’s laboratory, where our trained laboratory staff test the samples for various house-hold allergens as well as for actively growing mold. Following the lab testing, customers discuss results and removal recommendations with one of our allergy and asthma consultants.

Inspirotec is the brainchild of co-founders Prasanthi Gandhi, a successful entrepreneur and lifelong asthmatic, and Julian Gordon, an established scientist and the inventor of such technologies as lateral flow used in the first home pregnancy test and the Western blot, a scientific method which is used in laboratories around the world.

Inspirotec Inc. is the only company providing airborne allergen and actively growing mold detection either through physicians, indoor air quality professionals, or direct to consumer. Direct to consumer is marketed under the brand name Exhale and can be purchased through www.exhalenow.com.

Q: So, what, exactly, is an allergen?

A: An allergen is a substance that triggers an allergic response in a sensitive individual. For example, most of us have dust mite allergen in our homes, and for those who are not allergic to dust mite allergen, it’s completely harmless. If you are allergic to dust mites and come in contact with dust mite allergen, your immune system sees this as a threat. In response to that threat, the immune system over-reacts and releases chemicals to fight off the allergen. These chemicals, in turn, can cause annoying and sometimes dangerous symptoms in the lungs, throat, eyes, nose, roof of the mouth, ears, or on the skin. Sources of common household allergens can include pets, pests (i.e., dust mites, roaches, and mice), pollens, and mold.

Q: Why is it important to test your home for allergens?

A: Controlling your exposure to allergens is the key to controlling your allergy and asthma symptoms. Since you spend a large amount of time at home, it’s important to know what’s in the air that you’re breathing. Exposure to allergens is a contributing factor in the development or aggravation of asthma, hay fever, eczema, and other chronic diseases. When you go to your physician for allergy testing, he or she can diagnose the allergies themselves, but not what allergens you are exposed to in your home. That’s where the Exhale service can help. Our team quantifies the allergens or mold lurking in your home and helps guide you through the removal process to help you live a healthier and happier life.

Q: What makes Exhale service the best choice? Why would you recommend it?

A: Our service provides the only test available on the market that measures airborne allergens and actively growing mold. Though other companies offer allergen testing on dust samples from the floor of your home, their products also measure pollutants or mold spores that are not allergens. The measurement of floor allergens may not represent accurate measurements of what you are actually breathing into your lungs. Our Exhale service not only detects the allergens or mold present in your air, but also goes a step farther. We connect each customer with our allergy and mold consultant to provide guidance on how best to reduce the allergens and the mold in their environment. Each consultation is tailored around each customer’s personal experience and home allergen profile.

Q: How exactly does it work? What does Exhale’s device measure?

A: Our patented, handheld air sampling device, invented by our co-founders, collects allergens and actively growing mold in the air using a technique called electrokinetic propulsion. This technology propels air through the device at high speed, silently, without a fan or other moving parts. Inside the devise, air particles collect on a removable cartridge.

We simplify the process of testing your home for allergens and mold.

• Purchase either our Exhale Allergen or Exhale Mold product on-line from our website and it will be shipped directly to you.
• Plug-in the air sampling device for 5 days for Exhale Allergen and for 1 day for our Exhale Mold.
• When the air sampling step is complete, ship the device directly to our laboratory with the shipping label included in the box. Our laboratory will test your samples for allergens and/or mold using specialized molecular biological techniques. Customers receive results within 2 weeks for Exhale Allergen and within 5 business days for Exhale Mold.
• When results are ready, customers receive an email to schedule a consultation with one of our allergy and mold consultants. Our consultants review the results and provide customers with a personalized action plan, with allergen and mold removal tips tailored to their home.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: Our plan is to make the Exhale service universal practice for all asthma, allergy, and hay fever sufferers and enable them to take control of their environment and to minimize use of medication.
