Below is our recent interview with Matthew Carr, Director of Strategic Alliances at Savision:

Matthew Carr

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Savision?

A: Savision develops enterprise software to help IT staff locate and solve issues in their IT environment. With headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, our software transforms huge volumes of data coming from monitoring tools into dashboards that IT or business people can quickly understand to solve problems pro-actively. We are not the typical Dutch company however as we have 12 different nationalities, we travel a lot and we like to celebrate our successes. For example, we had a company offsite for all staff (35) in Aruba to celebrate a particularly good year. We have over 900 customers across the world today including Mercedes-Benz, KPMG, US Department of Justice, and International Atomic Energy Agency.

Q: How does Savision work?

A: It is an on premise software package that integrates with any IT monitoring, IT Service Management or public cloud. We use big data technology based upon ElasticSearch to handle vast amounts of data coming from IT tools and we organize that into easily understandable dashboards with the business context required. Our unique frameworks show IT data in a service-oriented context of End-User/Application/Infrastructure to highlight when issues are critical and actually impacting the business. We help to avoid noise reduction with over 95% of alerts being non-critical, which gives our users peace of mind to rely on Savision to pinpoint issues. Our real-time dashboards are normally used on large NOC screens showing bold visuals with a traffic light system of Green-Yellow-Red. When issues require attention they are surfaced to the top with large red coloring for users to take action.

Q: What are the benefits of using Savision?

A: With the rise of DevOps today’s IT environment is more complex than ever. With critical business applications distributed in multiple locations across both public & private clouds, solving problems is becoming more and more difficult, leading to a rise in the need of software like Savision to help. There are many different monitoring tools on the market that are good at specific tasks, with the average organization having 5 separate tools. Bringing this data together and correlating the alerts across tools means issues can be resolved faster and critical applications can keep the business running.

Q: Can you give us insights into Savision features?

A: Savision has a few critical elements that make us unique. We have a big data noSQL architecture based upon ElasticSearch open-source technology. This allows to gather and normalize huge volumes of data that are being generated in the data-centers of large Enterprises running thousands of servers. We represent this data in easily customizable dashboards that can be shared with anyone in an organization for them to interact with. We organize the unstructured data into services that correlate to specific critical applications such as Email, ERP, CRM, VOIP and provide a 360’view of each service to pinpoint issues before they impact end-users. In addition to this, we integrate with Service Management platforms to initiate automation workflows, meaning that recurring problems can be resolved automatically without the need for human intervention. Ultimately Savision becomes the Single Pane of Glass for cross-platform monitoring in large IT teams.

Q: What can we expect from Savision in the future?

A: As the saying goes “Time is money”. Anything that Savision can do to save people time in resolving incidents means saving our customers money. The next step is to develop machine learning algorithms to spot incidents based upon historical data-points and kick-off remediation actions automatically. This is what we call AIOps (Artificial Intelligence Operations) and it will create a self-learning and self-improving solution meaning that outages will become a thing of the past.
