Q: What advantage does Jetico have over its competitors?
A: While most of the security companies out there are big in size and portfolio – with an offering ranging from network to endpoint protection – Jetico’s advantage is that we are entirely focused on data protection. That’s all we do.

BCWipe and BestCrypt were ready with support for Windows’ latest OS already one year before its release, way ahead of monolithic competitors, who didn’t announce their support until many months after.
Overall, natural usability in security software is a core component to our success at Jetico. Beyond our proactive R&D, we take pride in the simplicity and ease of use of our data protection tools. BCWipe and BestCrypt are powerful enough for experts at large organizations, while still user-friendly for people at home.
On top of our focus and agility, Jetico’s trustworthiness and independence win the hearts of many users. What sets us apart? Well first of all, we publicly guarantee no backdoors. And there are two important points to support our claim. Back in 2013, we published our encryption source codes. Then, as a Finnish company, this unique protection for our users is assured by our national privacy laws.

Q: Could you tell us something more about the company and your history?
A: Jetico provides endpoint data protection software, which means encryption for the data you keep and wiping for the data you need to get rid of. Founded in Finland more than 20 years ago, Jetico is truly a pioneer in this industry. And despite our remote location, we proudly serve more than one million users in over 100 countries.
Through most of our history, our solutions have primarily been trusted for protecting national security. Yet recent years have attracted a much broader market. Compliance requirements with harsher penalties as well as increased privacy concerns have taken our technology to the next level. Stories about data breaches and encryption backdoors are now front page news.
Our passion for developing leading-edge software drives us to achieve remarkable innovations in data protection. Some examples created by Jetico include hidden containers for deniable encryption and transparent wiping, running in the background so users can always work in a totally clean environment.
Q: Could you explain the function and advantages of Jetico’s BCWipe?
A: Even today, many people don’t realize that when you hit ‘Delete’ or ‘Empty recycle bin’, nothing is actually erased – your data is still there. Wiping with BCWipe fixes this problem. Our solution comes in two flavors. First, BCWipe Total WipeOut will erase entire hard drives for disposal or repurpose. If you only need to erase selected files and wish to still keep your other files and applications, then our standard BCWipe program will permanently delete files or folders on active computers. While our end-of-life solution has been validated by ADISA and long-appreciated by many customers, we really stand out with on our selective wiping software. BCWipe has a unique strength to identify, locate and completely remove data remanence beyond forensic recovery. It’s no coincidence that for over 15 years, BCWipe has been trusted as the de-facto standard throughout the U.S. Defense Community, used mainly in response to classified data spills.

Q: Security expert Bruce Schneier praised your latest release of BestCrypt Container Encryption for Linux 3.0; could you tell us something more?
A: As Bruce said, “If using a proprietary operating system does not fit your threat model, surely Linux is a safer choice.” Unlike competitors that might neglect Linux users, with this release Jetico shows our full commitment to deliver the best and most complete protection for private data. Empowered with reliable encryption, Linux users can count on Jetico for regular updates and professional technical support. The revamped user interface makes encryption amazingly easy for any level of user. Beyond that, BestCrypt stands out in its ability to create and move encrypted containers across major platforms including Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Android.

Q: What can we expect from Jetico in next 12 months?
A: Well first, during the next few weeks, everyone can take advantage of our October offer – buy BestCrypt and get a free webcam cover. Talking about encryption, we have some really good news coming for our managed service providers and enterprise customers. By using a simple web browser, admins can run an installation-free console from anywhere, enabling them to remotely deploy software, manage keys and enforce encryption policies. While on the wiping side, we will keep developing a leading-edge solution by adding support for new generations of SSDs – starting from NVMe drives.
Overall our users can expect ongoing improvement of our cross-platform compatibility, including our new Android solutions.
