PageCloud is a new experience for publishing content on the Web. It’s a visual editor for web pages that brings that smooth, familiar desktop publishing / drag & drop capability we’ve known in our desktop tools & image editors to life in your browser.

Below is our recent interview with Craig Fitzpatrick, the Founder and CEO of PageCloud:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to PageCloud?

A: Drag and drop website building isn’t “new” exactly, but previous attempts at it have been very poor attempts at re-creating this experience in a browser. Buyers beware. PageCloud on the other hand, was recently built from the ground up to be the world’s most sophisticated visual web editor. With think this is just the beginning of opening up web publishing (free form) to the masses (i.e. non technical types) and it will change the Web forever as it goes mainstream.

If you can use Keynote or Powerpoint, you can create your own website from scratch just as easily.

Q: Can you give us insights into your features?

A: For example, it completely integrates with your operating system clipboard to let you copy/paste just about anything onto your webpage, such as pasting images directly, URLs to web widgets like maps, forms, videos and more (actually over 70 integrations). It let’s you paste charts from Excel, tables from Keynote or Powerpoint, or layers straight from image editors like Pixelmator or Sketch. Your media (images, videos, etc.) can be dragged in right from your desktop. No other web editor has this capability – and it’s something so smooth you just have to experience it to really get it.

Q: PageCloud offers a ton of flexibility when it comes to optimizing website for search engines; could you tell us something more?

A: For those web editors that are visually oriented and not template based, they tend to be more “toyish” compared to their CMS (content management system) cousins. However, PageCloud captures the best WYSIWYG experience for non technical people, yet remains a full development platform. Those WITH technical know-how can crack open the Web inspector and start manipulating the page code, adding scripts, tweaking tags – literally anything they like. It’s the best combination of an entry level and pro tool all wrapped up in one.

Q: What is PageCloud Teams and how does it work?

A: Our teams feature lets you have 3 different levels of access, from Owner (everything), to Editor (almost everything) to Contributor (just page edits). It’s our first foray into collaborative web editing. You’ll see more of this kind of feature in the future as we build-out the one tool for everyone: designers, writers, coders and business owners.

Q: What can we expect from PageCloud in the future?

A: PageCloud isn’t just about building web pages – we are out to change the Internet forever by putting the tools to design, create and edit out there for everyone, regardless of skill level. Not only that, but to help everyone create beautiful things. We start from a blank page, often forgetting about the “traditional” way of doing things, and always ask ourselves “how SHOULD this work”? Our design thinking is always around raising the bar for any feature we create. Sometimes they start with just a basic capability (like Teams) but are often part of a feature roadmap where we intend to iterate on the features until they really break the mold and really empower people to do things they couldn’t in any other tool. And we are just getting started.
