Quire – More Than A To-Do App Or Task Management Tool

Quire is a new-generation collaborative app that helps people accomplish their big goals by breaking them down into small steps and working with others to complete them. It comes with unlimited nested tasks and real-time communication and collaboration, all wrapped in a clean, simple intuitive design. Here is our interview with Crystal Chen, Community Manager at Quire:

Q: How does Quire differ from other task management tools?

A: Quire is a new-generation web-based collaborative app that helps people get their ideas down, organize them into goals and bring them to reality.

What distinguishes Quire from other task management tools is that we help people accomplish great things easily in an ever-changing world. We’re not an app for people to simply check their grocery or chores list, but one that lets people, together as a team, achieve their goals and dreams no matter how big or challenging they are.

This is why Quire comes with unlimited nested tasks and real-time communication and collaboration, all wrapped in a clean, simple intuitive design.

Speaking of design and nested tasks, with conventional task management tools, people get buried by long to-do list because tasks can easily grow into a long one.
But with Quire, even if you have a long and messy list of tasks, you can easily manage them.

For example, you can reorder a task when it becomes more or less important, add a due date and tag to remind you of its priority, type or status, or zoom in to see only those that matter to you at the moment.

In Quire, you can create as many tasks in as many levels as you want without limits. By breaking down your goal into tasks, and repeating this process until they become doable, you can then complete them one by one without getting lost in the big picture.

Next, real-time communication and collaboration. You can assign tasks to anyone, including your colleagues, friends, and even people outside your company. By leaving comments under each task, everybody is involved in a real-time discussion in a centralized space. All the words added and files attached by you and the others are seen instantly.

Q: You’ve said that Quire allows unlimited nested tasks. Can you tell us a little more about its benefits?

A: When you have a large piece of chocolate, you can better swallow it if it’s in pieces and bits. Similarly, when you have a big and challenging goal, the best way to tackle it is by breaking it down into tasks that are small and actionable enough.

With tasks nested in unlimited levels, not only can you see a clear big picture of what’s going on, complete them one by one starting from the lowest level, but also manage them easily.

Because as time goes by, the status of each task may change. For example, you may want to change one’s due date to an earlier date, add a tag named “High” to indicate it’s urgent, and drag it to the top so you know it should be done first.

No matter how big or challenging your goal is, or how many uncertainties you may face in the future, Quire’s unlimited nested tasks keep you moving forward steadily until you reach your destination.

Q: You’ve also mentioned collaboration with people outside the company. How does it work?

A: To answer your question, you should know that sometimes if not often, people don’t just work with their colleagues, but also contractors, suppliers, or even freelancers outside their company. This is when Quire’s “external team” feature comes in. It’s the first of its kind to provide such feature.

Let’s say you have a project, and one of its tasks needs to be done by a business partner (“external team” as we call it). When you assign the task to them, you can still manage it in the project, and they can only see and work on this task that’s outsourced to them.

With Quire, not only can you do so safely without sharing other internal tasks or exposing confidential information with them, you can still see the whole picture of the project, and manage it.

Q: Quire was designed and developed by Potix Corporation, tell us something about the company?

A: Potix Corporation is a software company founded by two entrepreneurs, Tom Yeh and Henri Chen, in 2007.

It owns and develops ZK Framework, an open source Java framework for building web and mobile applications, which has reached 1.5 million downloads worldwide and has been adopted by hundred of Fortune 500 companies.

Q: What made you want to develop Quire?

A: Throughout our collaboration with our ZK clients, we’ve tried countless task management solutions to help us be more productive. However, we found ourselves switching from one to the next and none of them really wowed us enough to become our one and only solution. Hence, the birth of Quire.

We want to make Quire an app that’ll not only help people get things done or achieve their goals, but more importantly, accomplish something that’ll have a significant and positive impact in their life.

Q: What are your plans for the next six months?

A: In the next six months, we’ll first introduce a native mobile app. Though right now, Quire already can run smoothly on smartphones’ browsers. Next, we’ll develop a native chatroom, possibly a public and also a private one, which we believe will speed up the collaboration process.

Some of the other smaller features that we may bring to the table are things surrounding the time element, like reminders, and statistics of your tasks and projects.

We’re trying our best to make Quire the one and only place where people make their dreams come true by jotting down their ideas, planning and organizing them into goals, breaking them down into tasks, and then collaborating with others to complete them.

Q: Last but not least, how would you convince our readers to use Quire?

A: We have to admit, we’re a late comer in this market. Yet, we’ve had many users switching from other task management tools to Quire.

One reason is that we simplify the complicated. We’ve made the effort to make Quire easy and intuitive to use, so users can go ahead with their big and challenging goals by taking one small step at a time.

Actually, a lot of people still feel overwhelmed and behind despite using productivity softwares, apps or tools. These people are determined and they carry on regardless, so they continue using whatever solutions they find while reading productivity articles, and end up in the same place.

Yes, a to-do app is great, but it’s for jotting your items down and crossing them off, definitely not enough for achieving goals. A conventional task management tool, on the other hand, might be too heavy or overwhelming as you spend more time trying to figure things out instead of getting things done.

We believe Quire is the answer to this problem. It gives you the best result with just enough.
