We recently caught up with Alex Barseghian, the Founder and Board Member at RoboEatz. Alex is an innovative and entrepreneurial C-level operator whose experience spans a range of industries including retail, payments, technology, consumer packaged goods and loyalty. Highly skilled at scaling businesses – most recently having, launched a retail product that went from 0-$300m in sales in 24 months.

Q: Alex, what is RoboEatz?

A: RoboEatz is a food-tech Canadian start-up headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Our fully Automated Robotic Kitchen system (ARK) first debuted at the recent Consumer Electronics Show 2021 and was designed by restaurateurs for the food service industry. The robotic kitchen system can prepare food dishes that are customizable by taste preferences and dietary restrictions and is capable in its current configuration of producing a dish in less than a minute. The application of this technology offers hot and cold storage, preparation, plating, cleaning, and sanitizing. It can be used in university cafeterias, corporate kitchens, and fast-casual chains. Moreover, the use of the autonomous robot tackles many of the current issues plaguing restauranteurs, such as skilled labour issues, eliminating training concerns, improving food safety, improving quality and reducing food waste while simultaneously enhancing sanitization. All in all it provides a better, faster, safer and greener experience.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your installation?

A: RoboEatz has developed its own facility: a full-service restaurant in a business hub within downtown Riga, Latvia. This is essentially our first commercial model which was purposefully created to gain feedback directly from consumers. We will shortly open another public facing location in about 6 weeks. We believe that value is driven by the consumer experience. Ultimately it is the consumer that decides whether to select your restaurant or someone else’s. These decisions are based on a number of factors: service, experience, price, and obviously the food. Our location is at the center of a business and transportation hub to maximize traffic. So far, we are servicing breakfasts, lunches, and dinners with an assortment of foods, from cereals, mixed yogurt with granola to power bowls, salads and pastas, just to name a few. The feedback and response has been outstanding and we expect to have further test facilities established in North America within the next few months. Stay tuned for further news in the coming months.

Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: The RoboEatz team has been working hard behind the scenes perfecting and enhancing the ARK system. We plan to announce a few exciting key development partnerships in the coming months. We will see at least 2 4 new physical installations within North America, and at least 1 additional European installation as well as some new key developments and supply chain partnerships. We are excited on the progress that has been made and we are set to change the food preparation world!

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: Essentially, we are built by restaurateurs for restaurateurs. What we have created is a full-service stand-up kitchen, the back end of the operation and the part you don’t see but are extremely reliant on. The ARK can prepare, cook, mix, clean and even serve! It can prepare dishes simultaneously, which means that there is no waiting for the first dish to be completed before the next one begins, essentially acting as a multi-person kitchen crew. The software enables the unit to execute to perfection ensuring that orders are completed and delivered consistently. It has a large capacity with the ability to complete over 1,000 dishes prior to replenishment of ingredients. But this wasn’t enough for us, so we incorporated artificial intelligence to help anticipate replenishment requirements based on output in real-time. The ARK knows when ingredients need to be replenished and the software advises the operator of the requirements. This means that in high-demand areas with difficult access, such as airports, transit hubs, mining camps and others, that those people are fed – consistently and conveniently – and that the overall operation executes flawlessly every time.
