Tarnish-Me-Not Solves Universal Problem In Jewelry Industry With Patented Surface Coating

Below is our recent interview with Tina Mamkegh, Co-Founder at Tarnish-Me-Not:

Q: What is your story? Can you tell us something more about Tarnish-Me-Not history?

A: As previous jewelry retailers, our mission was to go above and beyond for every single customer who walked through our doors. We quickly discovered how unnerving it can be when a customer has a severe metal allergy or is insistent on purchasing a piece of jewelry that will not tarnish. Thankfully, our team always welcomed two things: a challenge and an opportunity to prove our worth.

Our store, Eye Candy Boutique, was curated with jewelry from all over the world by talented designers and reputable manufacturers. Customers would regularly request the contents of each piece of jewelry carried in our store. This information was scarce, and we were constantly seeking it. We have consulted with our designers and manufacturers, following up on every lead. The deeper we dived into our research, the more we realized how unregulated this area of our industry is.

We knew how important it was to rebuild the trust between customer, retailer and designer in the Jewelry Industry. Our goal was to provide our customers with the peace of mind and security that they are purchasing sustainable and safe jewelry to wear.

Tatiana, co-founder, sparked an idea in 2013 that changed the whole trajectory of our path. Utilizing her background in chemistry and our joint experience in the jewelry industry, our team set out to find a solution. After four years of research and development, we patented the first hypoallergenic coating to preserve jewelry and protect the wearers skin from metal allergies. Today, Tarnish-Me-Not is the leading solution in tarnish and metal allergy prevention for the jewelry industry.

Q: Who would benefit from using your product?

A: Anyone who has ever hesitated to buy jewelry due to a metal allergy or the inevitability that it will soon tarnish.

Q: What makes Tarnish-Me-Not unique in the market?

A: Tarnish-Me-Not is the only patented jewelry coating that preserves your jewelry and protects your skin from harmful metals. We increase the lifespan of your products with a clear barrier that is UV-ray resistant, waterproof and non-yellowing. This formula does not contain any abrasive chemicals that are typically found in jewelry cleaners and coatings. It has been approved by the departments of Dermatology and Toxicology to ensure safety for all skin types and metal surfaces.

Q: What products can we expect to see from your company in the future?

A: At Tarnish-Me-Not, we are consistently working on new ways to expand our product line in all forms of jewelry care. We will soon be launching a branded polishing cloth made of 100% cotton to remove any impurities on the jewelry, prior to coating. By popular demand, we will be rolling out additional sizes of our current aerosol spray to accommodate larger jewelry collections and independent designers. You can expect to see many different variations of our protective coating in the future. One of them being a brush on formula for more detailed applications; as well as industrial-sized quantities for high volume manufacturers.

Q: What do you hope to change about the jewelry industry?

A: Our goal is to empower consumers to make more informed decisions on the jewelry they are purchasing. We would like to see a clear set of definitions to describe each alloy that is commonly used in jewelry. The trending names for these alloys can be very misleading to the consumer and insinuate a higher content of precious metals. There are so many moving parts in our industry’s supply chain. Setting universal regulations in place will ensure that everyone is playing by the same rule book, with full transparency. To help achieve this, we plan to provide every jewelry manufacturer with our protective coating to ensure that all metals adhere to the regulations set forth in the Global Jewelry Industry.
