ThinkYum was born in attempt to help people eat delicious, home-cooked meals more often. Below is our interview with Mitch Jansen, Founder and CEO of ThinkYum:
Q: Mitch, how would you describe ThinkYum in your own words?
A: ThinkYum is designed to help people cook a variety of delicious meals at home. With our recipe collections delivered every week your grocery lists will be shorter, you will have less food waste at the end of the week and you will save money by eating what you buy and eating out less.
Q: How did you come up with the idea for ThinkYum?
A: The idea stems from the personal struggles of my wife and I. We love cooking (well she’s the brains in the kitchen and I love learning about cooking from her!) but we still would find ourselves having a hard time coming up with new meals to make, which would eventually result in us eating out far too often. It was decided that we needed to find a service that would help us stay creative in the kitchen, but we weren’t able to find a service that seemed to meet our needs. Therefore, ThinkYum was born in our own attempt to help people eat delicious, home-cooked meals more often.

Q: What makes ThinkYum unique in the market?
A: For the time being, what makes us unique is the ability for users to shape our business. We are small and very susceptible to suggestion, we want to give everybody what they want, we hope to become the Pandora of meal planning!

Q: Do you have any new features in the pipeline? What can we expect from ThinkYum in 2016?
A: Our goal is the incorporate all aspects of cooking into our service. Everything from an app to manage cooking instructions and grocery lists, partnerships with grocery chains to help increase efficiency while at the store, instructional video how-to’s and even a hotline to call with cooking questions. We also plan to offer additional meal plans, starting with: healthy, vegetarian, paleo and custom plans that cater to things like food allergies.
