We Interviewed Sleepenvie’s Founder, Joy Elena, To Find Out What Makes Sleepenvie Different And To Learn About The Exciting New Products

Sleepenvie is a Toronto-based online bed-in-a-box mattress and bedroom lifestyle brand that focuses on customization, convenience, and charitable contribution. They make the mattress-buying process easy by delivering it directly to your door in one easy-to-handle compact box. They strongly believe in customizability, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, matching their customers to their ideal mattress using an easy one-minute quiz. We interviewed Sleepenvie’s founder, Joy Elena, to find out what makes Sleepenvie different and to learn about the exciting new products they’ve just launched.

Q: What sets Sleepenvie apart from other bed-in-a-box brands?

A: Many bed-in-a-box brands offer only foam mattresses because mattresses with coil springs are difficult to compress to fit in compact boxes.

With our advanced technology, we are able to compress hybrid mattresses with coil springs. Our Hunter mattress is a 14″ multi-layer hybrid of both gel-infused memory foam and coil springs.

Also, even though Sleepenvie is three years old, my family has been in the mattress business for over 50 years. When I saw the shift in the market, I used my expertise in the industry to design and create our incredibly innovative products.

Q: I understand that you’ve recently launched a new collection of products, can you tell us more about them?

A: Yes! Last week, we launched our new collection of Sleeper Sofas, great sleep isn’t just for the bedroom anymore!

We are the first bed-in-a-box mattress company to add sofa beds to their lineup.

We have six models available in Canada and one model available in the US so far. Delivery is free anywhere in North America and they arrive at your door in boxes just as our mattresses do.

They are very easy to assemble yourself, or, you can opt for our white glove service option. We have a variety of sizes available from an apartment-sized loveseat to a large sofa with a chaise. All the models easily convert into sofa beds and some even have built-in storage compartments for blankets and pillows.

Q: Why did you decide to expand your product line to include the Sleeper Sofas?

A: We get excited about innovation and sleep! We know that we tend to get our best sleep in our own beds, but that isn’t always a possibility. Many of us have suffered a terrible night’s sleep on a friend or relative’s creaky, uncomfortable pullout couch. They can be a pain to set up, a huge expense to buy, a nightmare to sleep in and a real magnet for stubbed toes; needless to say, there was significant room for improvement.

We wanted to take great sleep beyond the bedroom and make sofa beds more comfortable, more functional, more stylish and more affordable. If people are buying their mattresses online, why not their sofa beds too? So, we decided to launch our collection.

Q: You’ve also recently launched a new mattress, what’s different about this product?

A: Speaking of ‘more affordable,’ we’ve also recently launched a new, more accessibly-priced bed-in-a-box mattress, Logan.

We pride ourselves on keeping our prices as low as possible across-the-board by selling almost exclusively online to avoid building the extra cost of bricks-and-mortar storefronts into our prices. But, because we use high-quality material and offer speciality products like our Hunter hybrid mattress or Sofie mattress made with cooling technology, our prices may still be a little too high for some even with the help of the financing we offer.

So, we decided to create a more accessibly priced basic mattress. Our Logan is still made with high-quality material, but we skipped the cosmetic touches that our other mattresses have to keep the price as low as possible. We also kept it simple with composition; our Hunter is 14″ thick with 7 different layers of memory foam, cooling gel and coil springs whereas Logan has gel memory foam with a foam base and is 8″ thick.

Beginning at only $299 USD for a Twin, it’s a great option for anyone on a budget, students living away from home, or for those that prefer a more firm and supportive mattress.

Q: What we can look forward to seeing from Sleepenvie next?

A: 2019 has been a year of innovation for Sleepenvie so far, launching our new Sleeper Sofa collection and our Logan mattress. We plan to keep the innovation coming by launching a new travel product in the coming months!

We’ve also done a few unique brand activations in Canada this year and would love to do something special in the US in 2020.
