Q: Claire, can you tell our readers something more about your business?
A: Airwaive connects wireless service providers with home and business owners who earn income operating wireless access points in their neighborhoods. Airwaive provides the tools and incentives for the components of a decentralized wireless network to thrive, offering internet service providers, hosts, and validators the resources and motivation to build and scale the Internet using wireless technology to reach everyone on the planet. Airwaive’s mission is not complete until 100% of the world has affordable access to broadband Internet.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: Since the successful seed round fund-raising completed in December 2021, Airwaive has been growing its ecosystem with more than 50 operators and over 6M potential host locations. Airwaive’s platform and technology supported our partner Compudot in launching their first network in Dallas, providing broadband access to the youth and their community. Recently, Airwaive announced their international strategic partnership to expand the 5G wireless network in India with a local partner,Shaurya Teleservices.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: Airwaive’s platform is a marketplace for property owners to make their properties available for renting to wireless and IoT operators giving them seamless services and rental revenue. This also enables ISPs to identify and create new wireless access points to reach underserved markets. Airwaive has invested years of development in proprietary tools which streamline an ISPs network planning and site acquisition, allowing wireless ISPs to realize tangible savings in both budget and time to market.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: Airwaive started in the United States and we will continue to expand our network in the US and Canada. We’re excited about the growth of 5G in India and we will be focused on building relationships with operators and hosts to utilize Airwaive to build small cell networks. Beyond India, we will be announcing new countries within the next six months. Our target markets will be countries with low broadband penetration that will benefit from new wireless technologies, and Airwaive’s unique platform, to provide affordable broadband Internet service.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: Airwaive leverages the blockchain and its trust mechanism to validate that users are connected at broadband speeds. There is no single company or organization that should report this data, nor should they be able to manipulate it to their advantage. Instead, the community validates that users are being connected at broadband speeds. We design this mechanism called Proof of Connectivity. Furthermore, when combined with a marketplace, rewards can be generated for the hosts of wireless access points, encouraging the expansion of the wireless network. Airwaive has unlocked a strong use case for adopting blockchain technology in the traditional telecommunication industry. Together, with the community, Airwaive will decentralize the last mile of the Internet.
