Listen to this article

IN Close Entertainment is a creative agency founded by seasoned Global Digital, Media, Entertainment Executive and CEO Cindy Maram, which is redefining entertainment PR for movies, TV, movie premieres and film festivals. Below is our recent interview with Cindy Maram, the Founder and CEO at IN Close Entertainment:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: We achieve our goals through targeted strategic public relations, digital, personal branding, social media and marketing communications campaigns, as well as production for the film industry.

My background in varied areas of the industry, working with celebrities, movie studios and film festivals, has provided me with vast amounts of experience and knowledge to utilize as a Personal Talent Publicist for directors, producers and actors. This has provided me with the expertise to obtain our clients’ professional goals, while envisioning and creating new opportunities for them within various aspects of the entertainment industry.

As an accomplished independent film producer, I am on the producing team as an Associate Producer of the critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning narrative feature film, ‘Women Is Losers,’ which world premiered in competition at SXSW 2021, as well as an Executive Producer and Producer of two short films currently on the international film festival circuit in Europe and North America. As a result, we also offer production services and financing for independent films. Being an insider in Hollywood has allowed me to travel the world to work and participate in film festivals such as Sundance Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Venice International Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and Mill Valley Film Festival, to just name a few. Building relationships in Hollywood is one of the keys to success. The many positive professional and personal relationships that have grown out of being an active member of the film community has allowed us to get to know and collaborate with filmmakers on film projects, as well as work alongside film festival directors and programmers.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: Over the years we’ve sponsored and partnered with various national and global film festivals such as Mill Valley Film Festival, London Independent Film Festival, Paris International Film Festival, FirstGlance Film Festival Los Angeles and Los Angeles International Film Festival. It’s been extremely rewarding to collaborate and work alongside these superb film organizations to elevate filmmakers and their artistic work in the independent film industry, while supporting and raising awareness and visibility for BIPOC, underrepresented groups and talent.

I’ve also hosted, moderated and spoke on various live and virtual industry-related panels around the world, such as “Shift to Virtual: A New Reality for the Indie Film Industry & Community” panel at the recent FirstGlance Film Festival Los Angeles 2021, which was the first physical, in-person film festival in Los Angeles since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Further, I’ve been a guest speaker and panelist for many festivals in Los Angeles, London and Paris, as well as been interviewed and featured on podcasts and livestream video talk-shows.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: With my vast amount of experience and expertise, I am inspired to share my knowledge with individuals and businesses through one-on-one consulting and coaching sessions to help professionals reach their career goals. We enjoy sharing our wisdom by providing guidance to those who are wanting to reach the next level in their film careers.

Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: In the upcoming months, on the production side, we plan to begin production on a few film projects that are currently in the works and in the development stage. We are currently developing a short film with plans for it to serve as a proof of concept for a feature film centering around the themes of youth and adolescence and women’s issues. The film also aims to stir awareness, as well as destigmatize the shame surrounding mental health and the misconceptions commonly associated with it. In support of May’s Mental health Awareness Month, we launched our @mindful.stride Instagram account and hosted an IG Live livestream talk-show with filmmakers in partnership and collaboration with FirstGlance Film Festivals and Awareness Film Festival to discuss the importance of mental health and promote wellness in hopes of stirring thought and conversations as part of the work to end stigmas around mental health.

In regards to PR and media, we will also be offering on-set film visits conducting filmed interviews with talent, such as directors, producers and cast members, to develop EPKs (Electronic Press Kits) for film publicity and media to utilize when promoting new film projects and talent.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: Because we have knowledge and experience in varied aspects and sides of the film industry, we are “in our own lane” in a sense. My expertise and insights as a member of the press on the promotional and publicity side for movies, TV and celebrity talent and being equipped with a strategic marketing communications and public relations background, has really given us an edge. Since we’ve been on both sides of the industry, we have a deep grasp of what the media is looking for from PR representatives, talent interviews and what types of story pitches resonate with outlets like magazines, newspapers, talk shows, websites, podcasts, blogs and influencers. And we understand how to advise our clients, who are filmmakers and actors that are the interview subjects, on best interview practices, how to position themselves well in the media, as well as possess an angle on the most effective ways to publicize new movies, TV shows and special events like red carpet premieres.
