Below is our recent interview with Marcy Kiesman, President at Durango Resources:

Q: How is junior exploration market different today than it was just a few years ago?

A: The junior exploration market is shrinking as more and more the mid size companies are buying up the small juniors with promising assets and results. I think we will continue to see more of this as many financiers view the juniors as risky and do not seem to be willing to invest in them for exploration but will invest in mid or large tier companies with greater market caps. It creates a system of “have” and “have nots” for funding which leaves limited options for some junior explorers.

Q: You’ve recently reported that Chibougamau Diamond Drilling and Durango’s exploration team have arrived on site at the company’s wholly owned Découverte Gold Property. What do you expect from this project?

A: We are very excited to be drilling the Decouverte as it is along a gold producing fault with the right structural geology and excellent neighbours in the area. We are currently drilling a 2,400 metre program to test a model created by our geologist, Danae Voormeij to intersect the targets identified by our airborne and ground geophysics. We expect to have positive results which is why we initiated the drill program. If the assays return positive figures, we will look to drill the project further as we have many more targets which have not been tested on the property. We expect to have results near October so keep watch for further updates on the Decouverte Property.

Q: What are your core principles?

A: I work hard to try to create value for our shareholders which is why we completed a transaction in 2017 with BonTerra Resources on our Trove Property in the Windfall Lake area. We were not able to raise money to drill the property so we partnered with BonTerra in order to give Durango some liquidity to advance some of our assets without raising capital at low levels and diluting our shareholders. I strive to keep the share capital in a strong position as I know many of our shareholders personally and I am a shareholder myself.

Q: What geographical areas are you interested in?

A: I am a Canadian and like to work on Canadian projects despite our bugs and cold weather. I think Canada has a lot of unexplored territory to offer and has great potential for new discoveries. Plus, when we discover and develop the projects it benefits all Canadians.

Q: What are your plans for the next 6 months?

A: In the next six months I hope to be working on a bulk sample for our limestone project in BC as well as drilling our projects in northern Quebec (Windfall Lake Properties, Decouverte Property and the NMX East lithium target near Nemaska). We still have further trenching to complete on our Saskatchewan silver, copper, cobalt claims too. We have many excellent projects to work on once we have additional resources to advance them.
