Q: You’ve recently helped aha Insurance achieve its goal to be one of Canada’s first fully online insurance brokerages; could you tell us something more?

A: Without MuleSoft’s Anypoint platform, aha Insurance wouldn’t have been able to get to market nearly as quickly as they were able to. Not only did the Anypoint platform solve the immediate need to get to market quickly, but also the downstream effect of adopting the API – led approach positioned the company with a nimbler platform upon which they could quickly change and adapt service offerings. Using API connectivity enabled them to hook up multiple additional services at any time and manage them in one central location resulting in greater adaptability to change with added resiliency and introduced reusability across entire operation significantly lowering costs and providing faster service. Customers continuously benefit from these operational improvements by way of a speedy, pleasant and comprehensive online user experience that just seems to flow intuitively and naturally without any barriers.

Q: What kinds of services do you provide to your clients?

A: To help our customers meet their digital transformation and integration goals we work with carefully our clients as consultants and service providers to onboard the best solutions for their needs. We partner with leaders such as, Appian (Business Process Management), MuleSoft (Systems Integration) and Blue Prism (Robotic Process Automation) who solve complex business problems using innovative technological solutions.

Q: How modern API-led connectivity transforms businesses?

A: Many companies are struggling with complexity in their operations and may have several legacy systems that they are trying to connect modern applications to. These applications change frequently and demands on the IT team to not only serve data housed in disparate systems but integrate with them are varied and ever-changing. Many companies use point-to-point integrations that are inflexible, don’t scale, and become a nightmare to maintain. Aside from being resource heavy, complexity and error are often introduced in these systems because any changes to the source system usually require downstream changes that can involve multiple integrations, and any of these points can be vulnerable to human mistakes.

The new way of doing things in the IT world is to look at API-led frameworks that connect these disparate systems in a micro-services context using a platform to deliver API connectivity, and in that way use a programmatically based-architecture. The client gains flexibility, mobility, scalability and reusability into the system, while also improving accuracy. In this way, anything literally can connect to anything, code can be reused for multiple projects, and the pace of change is faster driving development costs down and freeing up resources. Changes to the source systems can often be transparent to the other systems that are being integrated since the changes take place behind the API.

The modern API-led approach can lead to significant improvements in time to delivery, often 3times faster than traditional models, giving companies the ability to outpace competitors while driving costs down.
