Dakota Grizzly – Unique in Its Attention To Detail, Rugged Fabrications And Consistent Modern Fit

Dakota Grizzly is a lifestyle brand that was founded 10 years ago with distribution in select markets in the Western USA. The parent company apparel maker CMC brands is headquartered in St, Louis, MO. The 2018 Midwest Maker’s marketing initiative came about as a natural extension of the parent company’s heritage as well as from responses from focus groups of early brand adopters who self-identified as craftsman in their vocation or hobbies and related to a brand with rugged feel and attention to detail. The brand will be available to consumers coast to coast and in Canada in 2018 as well as on the company website.

Below is our interview with Rob Rosenblum, Co-owner of Dakota Grizzly:

Q: What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in launching your business and how did you overcome it?

A: Dakota Grizzly is the flagship consumer brand, part of a well- established larger enterprise — CMC Brands — which has been creating and manufacturing proprietary product for major retailers for over 70 years. A global supply chain was already in place, which got the brand off to a quick start. The product had great DNA from the beginning. One of the biggest challenges was acquiring more expertise in marketing and brand activation to take the brand’s message the last mile to independent retailers and the consumer.

Q: You’ve recently launched RSVP retail program; could you tell us something more?

A: The R.S.V.P Program acknowledges the independent retailers’ importance in our marketing strategy. Too often in the past, brands have forgotten the retailers that helped introduce the brand to the consumer. In a rush to maximize B2C online sales, other brands became competition to the very stores that that helped build loyalty to the brand.

The RSVP program recognizes the value that brick and mortar retailers add, whether a customer discovers and buys the brand in their stores, on our site, or both. It’s a partnership.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: Our plans for the future center around our retailer base, enabling them to offer our customers extended sizes and special orders utilizing our website.
