Below is our recent interview with Edison Chen, CEO at Clapper:

Q: What is your story, tell us something more about Clapper?

A: Clapper was created in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. It was designed for adults over 18 years old to freely express themselves, create content, and meet like-minded people through short-form videos, livestreams, and radios. The Clapper community aims to provide a space where professionals can monetize their content and create a network of adult creators wanting to be part of a community. Different from other social media platforms, Clapper focuses on authenticity rather than views and viral content. We highlight real stories and communities of adults that don’t fit in the younger demographics other social media platforms are targeting.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: Clapper is working on new features to make the platform better for its users. We recently created a Stream to Earn Livestream challenge for creators to earn up to 15% more in their lives by achieving daily targets every day. This incentivizes users to go on Livestreams and increases the overall creator economy within the app.

Another of our newest features is “Levels”, the more you gift others on livestreams, the higher your level will be. The higher the level you are, the most benefits you can have, such as access to more expensive and limited edition gifts, being highlighted every time you enter a Livestream, and having a special frame around your profile picture depending on your level.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: If I am understanding this question correctly – We are offering an older generation who didn’t grow up with technology an opportunity to become creators and find their own community online. We want small business owners, moms, dads, farmers, makeup artists, truckers, and veterans, to come to Clapper and find their people and make authentic, original content while doing it. On Clapper, you don’t need to heavily edit your videos or have millions of views. You just need to be yourself.

Q: What can we expect from your company in the next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: In the short term, we want to scale Clapper to 20 million American users for next year. We want to expand to more countries like the UK, Canada, Germany, Australia or Ireland. Very soon we want to fly over there, host local meetups with creators, and get involved with a local business.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: As stated before, we are real. In most companies, you never get to speak with the people working there. On Clapper, if you reach out to the main accounts there will always be a real person to help you out from the Clapper. We want our creators to feel seen, heard, and valued more than anything, which is why it became our slogan.
