Meet EdApp – An Award Winning, Mobile First Microlearning Platform With Integrated Authoring, Spaced Repetition & Gamification

Listen to this article

EdApp is a multi-award-winning microlearning, mobile-first Learning Management System (LMS). Designed to provide engaging, mobile-first user experiences, the EdApp platform provides businesses with the ability to deliver training directly to their workforces’ smartphones, resulting in record engagement rates. Below is our recent interview with Darren Winterford, CEO at EdApp:

Q: Darren, can you tell us something more about EdApp global reach?

A: The platform currently delivers around 50,000 lessons per day across more than 30 countries and counting.

More recently, EdApp has partnered with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) to launch Educate All. Together with UNITAR, we are on a joint mission to increase access to free, high-quality, and impactful education around the world.

Q: What are the key benefits of using EdApp?

A: EdApp is a fully-customisable learning platform that promotes engaging learning experiences. The platform hosts built-in features to enhance learning results like gamification and our algorithm-based spaced repetition, where the material is automatically revisited to learners to ensure any given concept is mastered. Being a mobile-first microlearning platform means that users can access and complete courseware straight from their personal mobile devices. It also means that content can be completed in small, digestible chunks where bursts of information are shared through highly interactive lessons. Microlearning (the breakdown of information into topical, bite-sized chunks) also leads to better understanding and retention of the material at hand and has proven to be the most effective form of learning.

Our rapid authoring tool is also incredibly powerful and simple to use. Through the EdApp platform, lessons can be easily created, customized, and deployed to thousands of learners within days, not months. What’s more, no previous design or programming knowledge is necessary, so anyone can create beautiful lessons in no time.

Q: Who is your ideal user and why?

A: The great thing about EdApp is that it’s extremely versatile and adaptive. Because of that, we’ve seen our platform implemented in just about every industry, from Enterprises such as Shell and MARS, to healthcare, luxury retail, finance, not-for-profits, automotive, and just about everything in between. We always love to see our platform being used in new and innovative ways, and anyone with a passion to learn is our ideal user.

Q: What’s the best thing about EdApp that people might not know about?

A: The best thing that people might not know is that EdApp is completely free to use. Together with UNITAR, we’ve created Educate All – a free, comprehensive library of world-class, fully editable content for individuals and small businesses looking to upskill themselves or further their education. Everyone can have access to a global crowdsourced course library, accessible via mobile phone and free for anyone with a desire to learn.

Q: What can we expect from EdApp in next 12 months?

A: We are constantly growing and evolving as a platform, introducing new features regularly. We have recently introduced a video conferencing integration with platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and have exciting new features on the horizon.

EdApp is also adding to our crowdsourced library daily, meaning that creators and learners have over 70 courses (and counting) to explore. During the coming months, we will have more and more contributions to the library, with the aim to facilitate free education around the globe.
