Below is our recent interview with Kevin Krusiewicz, the Founder & vCMO at Marketing Trail Guide:

Q: For those who haven’t heard of it, what is the best way to describe Marketing Trail Guide?

A: A lot of entrepreneurs know they should be doing marketing, but with so many options for where they can put their focus and resources, choosing the best path can be really challenging. ‘Should I be doing video? What about blogging? Advertising? Social?’ It can be overwhelming. Marketing Trail Guide is a boutique marketing agency located in Orange County, CA helping our business-to-business (B2B) and non-profit clients map the best path for their growth amidst all those options, and then safely guiding them along that path to successfully reach their goals.

Q: You’ve recently rebranded to ‘Marketing Trail Guide’; could you tell us something more?

A: The old name, TELL and TRAiN was founded with the vision of helping other businesses better tell their stories and train their customers, partners and employees. It really came out of Kevin’s background as a Product Marketer at software companies. Over time and as we grew, we began to realize that name was too narrow for the complete set of services we now offer. The Marketing Trail Guide name lets people know we’re here to be their marketing guide, no matter what part of the entrepreneurial journey they find themselves on.

Q: Who do you serve?

A: We have demonstrated success with funded, pre-revenue startups and established businesses and non-profits with $1-25M in annual revenue in a variety of verticals: Software and SaaS, IT Infrastructure, Consulting & Services, Supply Chain & Logistics, Manufacturing, Education, and Non-profit.

Q: What types of services do you offer to your clients?

A: There are two main categories, the first being strategic services and consulting where clients (usually business owners or executives) need high-level help making decisions about their brand, marketing strategy, systems, team , etc. The fullest expression of this kind of engagement model is the Virtual Chief Marketing Officer (vCMO) – which is like having a seasoned marketing executive on your team, starting and/or running your marketing practice, without the normal full employee burden. But clients also choose to engage us on an a la cart basis for services like re/branding, messaging and story work, web design and development, and pipeline development vis-as-vis HubSpot CRM and Marketing Automation consulting and implementation.

This brings us to the second category – the content catalog – where clients (often in-house marketers) with a strategy in place look to us to fulfill their content needs. Content includes live shot and animated videos, web content and copywriting, pitch decks, eBooks, lead magnets, email marketing, and marketing funnels.

Q: What’s included in your free marketing assessment offering?

A: The free marketing assessment is a 30-45 minute video call with our vCMO to determine where you are currently in your journey, where you want to be, and what it would take to close the gap. Each assessment is different – some are focused on high level brand strategy, while others get down in the weeks on a particular piece of content like a landing page or blog article.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: We plan on adding a few strategic clients and 12-18 content-only projects in the next 12 months. We’ve been experimenting with a new type of content production – podcasts – and are looking to roll out a full blown podcast service later this year that includes concept and content consulting, studio recording, editing and post-production, and distribution on all major platforms.
