Provider Of Real-Time, In-Transit Visibility Tive Helps Shippers, And Logistics Service Providers Proactively Manage Shipment Delays

Listen to this article

Below is our recent interview with Lauren Seigle, Marketing Programs Manager at Tive:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: Tive is a leading provider of real-time, in-transit visibility – we help shippers, carriers and logistics service providers (LSPs) proactively manage shipment delays and damage through our combined solution of multi-sensor trackers, cloud-based visibility software, and 24/7 shipment monitoring. By providing real-time, hyper-accurate location and condition insights, we help customers proactively manage their shipments and address excursions, preventing costly losses, load rejections, and unhappy end customers.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: The partnership between Tive and Hwy Haul is a natural fit. Hwy Haul’s next-generation digital freight platform uses data and intelligence to reduce friction and optimally connect fresh produce shippers and carriers. With Tive’s hyper-accurate real-time location and condition data, both companies are able to offer an enhanced solution to optimize operations, improve OTIF rates, and reduce food waste due to delays and temperature/humidity excursions.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: Our trackers are best-in-class and provide the most accurate data in the industry – for example, users can track the location within feet (not miles) since our trackers use WiFi, GPS, AND cellular triangulation to determine location.

The trackers’ location and humidity sensors are the main attraction when it comes to shipping produce and perishables; however, they also measure shock (so you can determine where and when a shock event occurred – for example, a package was dropped) and light (so you can know immediately when a container was opened). These insights also make our solution a great fit for high-value and delicate goods – we do quite a bit of work with fine art, electronics, etc. as well.

The real-time aspect of Tive’s solution is key – having live, in-transit data at your fingertips is becoming table stakes in today’s definition of supply chain visibility. For years, shippers and LSPs have relied on solutions like data loggers, which only provide insights once the shipment’s journey has ended. At that point, the data is significantly less valuable – the shipment has already been rejected, because you didn’t find out the berries got too hot and spoiled until after the fact. By notifying you of temperature excursions or other custom alerts in real-time, Tive lets you act immediately to save shipments (for example – calling the carrier and having them check the reefer settings if you see the shipment is getting too warm).

Another key feature of our solution is our software’s robust API and webhook capability – users can either track their shipments directly with our application, or stream our data into their existing visibility platform, TMS, or any other application within their ecosystem.

Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: Our product team is extremely busy – we are constantly striving for bigger and better with our hardware and our software, adding features and making improvements based on feedback from our customers.

Our solution has so many use cases and our range of verticals will continue to grow – right now, we are putting more focus on pharmaceuticals, critical shipments and cold chain. We just finished development of a pharma-ready tracker that passes all compliance regulations so that we can expand in that space.

Lastly – we will continue to grow our robust network of partnerships. Tive believes in providing true end-to-end visibility to all through a mission of collaboration and eliminating data silos; in early 2020, we began working toward this mission through the formation of the Open Visibility Network (OVN). The OVN consists of similarly-minded supply chain players (including some of the biggest names in the visibility space, such as Project44 and FourKites, Everstream Analytics, Cloudleaf and more) who have come together to share their data and provide enhanced solutions to mutual customers.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: Behind the technology, Tive truly has an amazing culture. It comes through in our customer success teams, but there’s only so much you can see from the outside just how passionate and dedicated our team is. Tive is full of enthusiastic logistics professionals who believe wholeheartedly in the mission and come to work each day excited to make the company better, and make our customers happier. There’s a strong shared value of always being willing to help, whether it’s going out of one’s way to help a customer with a problem or assist another colleague in a different department. Great service and great products start with great people, and Tive is proud to meet that mark.
