ONEPOINT Projects Is A Leading Provider Of Hybrid PPM Software

Listen to this article

Below is our recent interview with Gerald Aquila, the Founder and CEO at ONEPOINT Projects:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: ONEPOINT Projects is a leading provider of hybrid PPM software, meaning that we can work very well with agile and traditional projects within a unified portfolio. We are best known for our high usability for “real” standards-based project and program management (PMI, PRINCE2, IPMA) and our bidirectional integration with Atlassian’s Jira. Our customers are mainly smaller and medium-sized project organizations from almost all industries, including government organizations and NGOs.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: The highlight of our latest release is the seamless integration of Essential SAFe® (Scaled Agile Framework) into our hybrid PPM offering. You can run ARTs (Agile Release Trains) side by side with regular Scrum projects and traditional waterfall-like projects. This is especially interesting for companies that are just starting with SAFe or where only a part of the project organization is a good fit for Scaled Agile.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: ONEPOINT Projects is available as both a cloud and on-premises solution. While we support the shift towards cloud-based enterprise solutions, we firmly believe that on-premises solutions also have their place and are essential for a number of more-regulated industries (especially in our home markets in Europe). Our software has a very powerful project planning component, but we also have a strong focus on integrated controlling and reporting capabilities. Supporting the complete project life cycle is a huge priority to us. We also provide many integrations (SAP, Slack, Microsoft Teams) and an ever-growing, modern API based on GraphQL.

Q: What can we expect from your company in the next six months? What are your plans?

A: The next thing that we will announce is a free cloud offering for up to 4 users. This offering has been available for the on-premises version for a few years now, but the cloud version will significantly lower entry barriers. We are also expecting a lot of exciting feedback on the first version of our SAFe PI Planning Board, so we are prepared to deliver updates with improvements based on suggestions and ideas from our end-users. There will also be another major release later this year, focusing on the “Project Life Cycle 4.0”. This version will include many practical improvements for hybrid PPM, e.g., explicit support for lessons learned for project closures and retrospectives.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: We hold annual international user meetings to which we invite our key customers and discuss ONEPOINT’s roadmap, new feature requests, and sometimes even detailed requirements directly with end-users. We believe that this often provides us with an edge in knowing better what customers really need than many of our direct competitors. It is a pity that we have not been able to hold these events in the last two years (for obvious reasons), but we are looking forward to the first “ONEPOINT Connect” since the pandemic started later this year.
