Volt Digital Co. Shifts Industry Focus For 2019

Listen to this article

Below is our recent interview with Christian DeVaul, Founder of Volt Digital Co:

Q: Christian, could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Volt Digital Co?

A: Volt Digital is a digital marketing company based out of Philadelphia, PA that was started in 2016. We started off by offering services such as social media management & marketing, search engine optimization, and website design, but recently shifted focus to just social media marketing specifically with Facebook ads and Facebook messenger bots. We’ve acquired a notable reputation in the digital marketing world because of our lead generation contests.

Q: Could you tell us a little more about yourself and your story?

A: My name is Christian DeVaul, I’m 24 years old and I am the founder of Volt Digital Co. I was introduced to the digital marketing world in 2015 by brothers close friend, Grant, who ran a social media agency at the time. I started Volt Digital in the summer of 2016 just before my senior year at Quinnipiac University. Upon graduating in 2017, I focused all my time on growing Volt into what it has become today.

Q: Did you have any prior experience with digital marketing before starting Volt Digital?

A: I did have a little bit of knowledge before jumping into business. I got the chance to intern with Grant’s company which definitely helped me get some skin in the game. I took it upon myself my sit in on sales calls and try to learn things from the top down. I think that was the best decision I could have made at the time. In addition, I spent a lot of free time reading books and blogs on the subject, as well as set up fake businesses just so I could practice implementing what I had taught myself. Once I was comfortable, I started offering services as next-to-nothing prices just to gain some experience. The rest is history.

Q: Tell us a little bit more about the Lead Generation Contests you mentioned earlier.

A: Sure, so basically they are a certain type of Facebook Ad with a giveaway contest as the core objective. However, we use a full life-cycle system that collects their contact information, pitches them a discount offer, follows up for a review, and then delivers a consolation prize via email. The concept is not why they perform so well, it is a result of the way we set up and optimize the Facebook ads. Our overall average cost per lead is about $0.30. I am actually in the process of putting together a training course to teach others exactly how to set up these contests.

Q: What is your main goal at the moment?

A: My main goal at the moment is to keep my momentum going and my clients happy. I can’t stress the importance of creating long-term professional relationships with good clients. As an independent 24 year old entrepreneur, it can be stressful knowing there is a lack of security in my income. Building strong relationships with high-end clients does provide a sense of closure and can open up doors to new incredible opportunities in the future. After all, most people who I work with are also business owners who typically have multiple companies.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: I plan to keep Volt Digital running for as long as I can. Since Facebook is such an evolving platform I don’t see the industry sinking anytime soon. Aside from Volt Digital, I teach Facebook marketing to individuals and companies under the name Volt Consulting. It is a new venture as of 2019 but I am thrilled with it’s progress so far. As mentioned earlier, I am in the process of building an online course to teach other business owners and marketers how to run our lead generation contests and how to utilize them for a variety of goals and objectives. The course will likely be sold under Volt Consulting. All digital marketing aside, I also have a real estate company called Volt Holdings which will be used for my investments into multi-family properties.

Q: What advice do you have for other young aspiring entrepreneurs?

A: Whatever idea or interest you currently have right now… start doing something about it. Anything can be learned on the internet and if you learn a service then you will have minimal start up costs. Experience is the best form of knowledge. Just buckle down and start now. Don’t be afraid of failure, but that should be obvious for anyone who wants to be an entrepreneur.
