Voxprotocol Creates Engaging Voice Entertainment Apps That Inspire People To Fully Embrace The Change In How They Can Now Interact, Listen, And Play

Listen to this article

Below is our recent interview with Kim Garvey from Voxprotocol:

Q: Kim, can you tell us something more about your company history?

A: In the summer of 2018, Voxprotocol was launched. As the popularity of smart speakers and smart displays was increasing, the goal of delivering top-quality entertainment content to users of these devices was born. The immediate success of our voice apps led us to start promoting our new releases in our apps via 10/15/30 second audio ads. Seeing listener engagement rates as high as 5.3%, we realized that we had something special and started offering our in-app audio ad inventory to businesses, brands, and agencies.

Our leadership has been involved in many successful startups and has backgrounds that include: artificial intelligence/natural language understanding, mobile marketing, ad-tech, video game design, audio engineering, psychoacoustics, and music production. As a group with over 30,000 hours creating and producing all styles of music, underscoring, voiceovers, and sound effects, we are uniquely positioned to help lead the way for AAA content creation for the voicefirst app and audio ad revolution.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: Our recent announcement highlight is that this is the first major advertising campaign for the voicefirst ecosystem running within Alexa Music Streaming Apps outside of the big streaming companies like Spotify, Pandora, etc. And we are very proud that it is with such an incredible company like Cashew.ai and promoting for the $5 billion American travel company TripAdvisor. Those involved in the announcement certainly help shine a bright light on Audio Ads needing to be included in every business, brand, and agencies marketing mix.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: Our offering insight is to keep it all as simple as possible. People tend to make the technology that runs our voicefirst ecosystem like Artificial Intelligence, Ambient and Voice Computing, Natural Language Understanding too confusing for mainstream adoption. We are trying to create a marketing channel that relies on all those technologies mentioned (and more) but make it as simple as possible. It is 10/15/30 Audio Ads that run in-between content that a user has requested. Yes, it takes a ton of great tech to make it all go, but that isn’t how you bring something like this to market. Audio Ads within Voice Apps is no different from banner ads that users see when they visit a website, except they use their ears to ingest the ad vs. their eyes. Audio Ads need to be pitched without all the fancy talk and just focus on the fact that the user engagement rates are fantastic and a marketers Share of Voice when their ad plays is tremendous.

Q: What can we expect from your company in the next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: Over the next six months, Voxprotocol will release at least another 6 Alexa Voice Apps, including “Alexa, open Song Clash…”, “Alexa, open Eighties Radio…” and “Alexa, open Mix Tape…” and others. We will also migrate our entire Voice App catalog into Voicefirst Mobile Apps. The expansion into Voicefirst Mobile Apps is critical to our plan of growing our Monthly Active Users at scale. We will round out our next six months’ efforts by releasing our Crescendo™ self-service Audio Ad Platform from the Beta environment to full client use. The Crescendo™ full release will allow our Audio Advertisers to quickly and efficiently place Audio Ads within our constantly growing Audio Ad Inventory.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: We have been told that Voxprotocol is a fantastic family-focused place to work. Our CEO Steven Austine has set it up to be that way after seeing his father, a very well-respected engineer and data analyst, be let go from a position due to his “age.” Happily, his dad works with us in Voxprotocol’s Customer Experience Department and many employees have their nieces, sisters, and brothers who have joined our small but mighty team. It gives our company a great feeling to see a collection of diverse aged people buzzing around or on our zoom calls. For Voxprotocol, it is all about delivering, and if you can, there is an open invitation to be part of the team.
