Below is our recent interview with Martin Leblanc from What Is Truth:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: What Is Truth (or WIT for short) provides combat sport athletes with modern tools for tournament preparation. WIT has grown out of the battle, its founding members fought to find contemporary mental training resources to reach their competition goals. Focusing on grappling and close combat martial arts, WIT takes a tailored approach to help fighters develop their own mental practices with the help of pragmatic online courses and advanced literature.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: We have recently released The Tournament Preparation Model for Grappling Arts® (developed by counsellor Ydus, MSc) serving as the backbone of the mental practices offered. The model emphasizes the psychological factors that differentiate competition preparation from general performance training, integrating neuropsychology, cognitive psychology, and physiology to describe the impact of the brain’s condition on tournament performance.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: The core offer of the platform is the 7-chapter tournament preparation course, The Brain and Combat: Brain Science in Grappling Competition, expanding on the mental components of competition success and their most effective managing strategies known today. The chapters guide the athletes through the series of internal events leading to the fight outcome, from how the brain builds confidence and how it evaluates the opponents, to how it changes the stress response over time based on the chosen training approach. The goal of the course is to enable combat athletes to build an appropriate and efficient mental training practice to improve their tournament win rate.

Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: We’re currently working on an additional mental strength training module that will be a condensed and pragmatic course on how to build boundaries and mental defence. This course will be presented in a graphic novel format due to the extremely impactful nature of visual content. It will be most beneficial for athletes at the beginning of their competition journey where issues with navigating the social noise can jeopardize their ability to train long enough to reach competition level.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: WIT advocates martial arts as a means for personal growth and supports self-actualization with a training gear series and a competition gear series. The two symbols used are the Ouroboros, symbol of the cyclic refinement of the self, and the Dragon, symbol of uniting science and intuition to shield against challenges in life.
