Asset Management Platform AlgoMe Seamlessly Matches Professionals With Job Opportunities

Listen to this article

AlgoMe is a London-based technology company and they’ve just launched their AlgoMe career management platform. The platform offers a new way to manage your career, secure a great new role and find mentor or mentoring opportunities for professionals working or wanting to work in the Asset Management industry, Fintech and wider Financial Services. The AlgoMe technology platform and algorithms support people who want to actively build their future career and work community. To find out more about their platform we sat down with Rob Carter, CEO at AlgoMe:

Rob Carter-AlgoMe

Q: Rob, could you explain how AlgoMe works?

A: From the start we designed AlgoMe with the user in mind, so registering and creating a profile is very easy; the AlgoMe wizard takes users through various steps including upload of basic LinkedIn data, outlining qualifications, job experience, skills, and aspirations to create their profile. The more data you provide the better matches for job opportunities and mentors will be.

Registration on AlgoMe is free and a one-off activity – it should take no more than 10 minutes to input your initial information. Then once you have completed you will receive notifications of any mentor / mentee matches or job opportunities. When matched you will be invited to connect so you are always in control.

You can continue to amend, complete and enhance your profile through the dashboard which combines an excellent user experience, innovative technology, data and an attractive user interface to ensure the use is intuitive and enjoyable.

The combination of careers and mentoring creates a virtuous circle and all participants benefit from it; people help each other become better professionals, and companies have a supportive community of employees.

For example those professionals wanting to upskill, AlgoMe finds them a mentor for advice, guidance and insight in different roles, skills and companies. This involvement is going to help the mentee progress quicker whereas the mentor will gain valuable insight in the aspirations of different professionals.

Equally, you might be working in Financial Services and feel you have the right skills to move into Fintech but not the right CV. AlgoMe focuses on skills, aspirations and experience to match professionals with the opportunities they are looking for.

Q: What is your start-up story?

A: The two founders behind AlgoMe are Rob Carter and Luuk Jacobs, both Asset Management industry insiders have over 40 years years of industry experience between them. We’ve both worked in international management consulting and financial services in senior and executive management roles with a focus on general management, program and change management as well as governance. We have a strong support network around us which has propelled us to launch in a relatively short space of time for a technology-focused company. We started building out our concept in the 2nd half of 2016 and launched to the market in July 2017.

We both knew that existing career tools all focused on the commercial players in the market, but not the individual talent. We have seen and experienced this in our respective careers and as senior line managers. Currently this has created significant inefficiencies, heightened bias and lack of support for individuals. So having understood this gap in the career management market we decided to build AlgoMe.

Technology has been a rock bed of our careers. Rob started his career at Accenture, a global technology consulting firm, and was most recently in the Technology group of Aberdeen Asset Management. Luuk has throughout his career been leading on a variety of automation projects in finance, insurance as well as asset management, his last role was at Aviva Investments.

The AlgoMe team, based in the heart of London’s tech city, is on the doorstep of the Asset Management community. It has a Advisory Board of experienced advisors in HR, Financial Services, Law and Technology. The first wave of industry feedback has been hugely positive; businesses and professionals alike feel this solves many career and recruitment issues.

Q: What can we expect from AlgoMe in the future? What are your plans?

A: While AlgoMe is currently focused on the world of Asset Management, associated Fintech and the broader financial services industry, we have very big plans for the future. Over time AlgoMe is expecting to grow further both geographically and into other industries. We already have an office in Paris and will be looking further afield as we expand.

We will be continually evolving the platform with regards to functionality and career management services and will be launching a mobile app soon. We are self-funded currently and will be looking for investment to support our growth in the coming months.

Q: How would you convince the reader to start using AlgoMe?

A: We would like to invite your readers who are career-minded professionals working or wanting to work in Financial Services to register on AlgoMe. AlgoMe is very discrete and lets you target your career goals without telling the world what you’re up to. Privacy is paramount; professionals are in charge of who sees their information and need to accept an invitation to share details with another person – this is a winning proposition.

For professionals and companies looking for roles or talent AlgoMe is a solution where after being matched you manage the contact between each other directly, with no intermediaries, other than our platform messaging system; AlgoMail.
