Below is our recent interview with Ryan Boghosian, from China Tour:

Q: Ryan, can you provide our readers with a brief introduction to China Tour?

A: Of course! Our founder and CEO, Alex Wang, got his start in a local Chinese Tour Operator, guided tours himself and learning the nuances of how each province and city handles tourism differently.

Today, China Tour is a leading US-based Tour Operator that specializes in tour packages of China and East Asia as a whole. Since 2002, we have been putting together unbeatable tour packages and working alongside travel agents to open the world to all there is to experience in China, our home. We’re able to offer these tours at a great price in large part because we work closely with travel agents through CCRA Travel Commerce Network.

It is our belief that building bridges across cultures begins with firsthand experiences with other people groups. Because our priority is client satisfaction, we even encourage anyone who wants to visit China to let us help them create their own travel itinerary so they get the most out of their time abroad.

Q: You’ve recently announced a new tour for WPFG participants and their families; could you tell us something more?

A: We try hard to accommodate anyone who has the desire to visit China, no matter what they want to see. So when we were asked by travelers already headed to China for the Chengdu World Police and Fire Games this summer if they could see even more of China on the side, right away we wanted to design a great tour package which would highlight some of the most important sights in China—the Great Wall, Shanghai, Hong Kong—and end in Chengdu just before the start of the games.

We’re very excited for the participants of the games and their families to have the chance to make the most of their time in China by seeing much more than they otherwise would have!

Q: Tell us more about your most popular tours. Why would you recommend them?

A: We have a number of tour packages that clients always seem to rave about. We have dozens of tours that vary widely depending on what our customers want to experience most.

Our 15-day Yangtze River cruise is consistently popular, and the feedback we get from our clients is that they feel like they get to see the best of both worlds: fast-paced Beijing and Shanghai on the one hand, and the more relaxing and scenic Yangtze River which winds its way through some of the most fantastic natural scenery in the world.

We heartily recommend inquirers speak with our agents to come up with an itinerary all their own, so whether they want to experience China’s wealth of cultural sites like the Great Wall or the Terracotta Warriors of Xian, or they’re more interested in nature scenes like those found at Hangzhou’s West Lake, they can make the most of their trip.

Q: Any tips for travelling through China?

A: Sure: we offer quite a few helpful tips about touring China on our website, but the most important are to stick close to your tour guide and ask them before doing anything you’re not sure about.

It’s a good idea to try and be more polite and deferential to older folks and just try to use good judgment, as you would anywhere else. Most travelers are actually surprised to find that the average Chinese person they meet in the city, especially the younger generation, has many of the same attitudes and beliefs as they do, which always makes for an even more memorable trip.

Q: What makes you the best choice?

A: We are actually one of only a few travel companies specializing in tours of Asia that are both based in the U.S., and that have a Chinese owner and manager, with offices in Beijing and Shanghai, no less. This means we can better assess problems or situations during the trips because we own our operations in China.

To go with having nearly 20 years in the travel industry, we just recently were recognized at the 2019 Travvy Awards in the Best Vacation Packager category for Asia, which is almost unheard of for an upstart company like us.

It’s really our reputation as a reliable and customer-focused tour operator that makes us stand apart. Our every travel itinerary is intentionally crafted with the help of experts in Chinese history, local culture, cuisine, and photographers, combined with expert local guides and excellent accommodations, to ensure our clients are completely satisfied when they return home.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: We are growing fast! We recently partnered with AmaWaterways to begin offering cruses up the Mekong River, for example. We are also expanding our outreach efforts to attract Spanish-speakers in the US and Latin America as a whole. We already arrange exciting tours of China in Spanish and we look forward to building itineraries for other non-English speakers as well.

While crafting unforgettable trips to China and East Asia remain the heart of what we do, we are looking to expand our focus to other fascinating destinations all over the globe.
