Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Croptracker?
A: Croptracker, a cloud-based crop management software system comprised of both desktop and mobile apps, was developed in 2006 to solve the problems of Ontario growers and continues to be shaped by the feedback and dynamic needs of growers as it expands around the world. Our mission is to make crop production safer, more efficient, and more profitable by enhancing food traceability and driving down operational costs.

Q: You’ve recently announced pilot launch of crop management software for New Zealand’s largest apple exporter; could you tell us something more?
A: Mr Apple’s brand is built on a commitment to food safety. The company prides itself on their apples being “safe, pure and 100% traceable back to source” and holds food safety and traceability certifications from some of the most demanding programs in the world. It was an honour and a testament to our software for such a company to choose to implement a Croptracker pilot.
We are very pleased that early indications have been so positive and look forward to continuing to work with Mr Apple and help them bring some of the most delicious, safe, and pure apples to people around the world.
Q: Can you give us insights into your features?
A: Today growers, associations, and co-operations of all sizes use Croptracker to keep records, execute and monitor their harvest, schedule and track their chemical usage, cut operational costs associated with supervision and auditing, enhance their traceability and food safety, and make more informed decisions for their operations.
Q: What are the benefits of using crop management software?
A: Some benefits include: easier food safety audits, easier achievement of organic certification, stronger traceability, a more monitored and safer work team, and more informed decision-making shaped by real-time data.
In other words, crop management software is a digital toolbox that helps growers centralize their records, optimize their productivity, and make better decisions for their farm. The bottom line? When you pair grower’s expertise with technology, farm management grows easier, quicker, and more profitable.

Q: What can we expect from Croptracker in the future?
A: We were recently awarded a grant to support the development of an innovative add-on to the Croptracker platform. The grant, funded by the Canadian federal government, aims to support high-potential businesses with projects poised to improve the agriculture and agri-food sector. Our innovation will help solve a critical and common problem plaguing orchardists, and thanks to this grant, we will be rolling it out within the next year.
