EDIAdmin Expands CHIP iPaaS Cloud and Managed Services Offering to Satisfy Supply Chain Integration Needs

Listen to this article

EDIAdmin is an iPaaS provider for the retail, manufacturing, and distribution industries, which means they focus on B2B integration of the supply chain. Below is our recent interview with Ian Redlin, President, CEO of EDIAdmin:

Ian Redlin

Q: Ian, tell us something more about your business?

A: Our business has two key components: a dedicated iPaaS cloud solution that we call CHIP, and collaborative managed services. Overall, we serve enterprise clients with complex EDI, ERP, CRM, WMS and other system integration requirements. We’ve been in business since 2002.

Q: Can you give us a better idea of specific platforms or systems you integrate?

A: We like to think of integrating processes as opposed to just systems integration, but we commonly work with SAP and SAP Hana, Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise-One and OneWorld, Microsoft Dynamics AX and GP, Epicor, Infor, NetSuite, and SalesForce. We also support Magento, Amazon, Shopify and others on the eCommerce side of things.

Q: What is CHIP and how does it work?

A: CHIP stands for Cloud Hybrid Integration Platform. The concept of hybrid processes have gained traction recently in several areas of business, but essentially it means that we can integrate cloud and on-premise systems from end-to-end – Cloud to Ground, as we call it.

CHIP works by providing a variety of solution functions such as process orchestration and automation, ERP integration, managed file transfer, product information management (PIM), EDI transformation and syntax checking, automated vendor onboarding and portals, and 3PL and GUI-based shipping integration.

Key features include data enrichment and validation, full process flow visibility, portal interfaces, web service and API support, error handling, and human workflow tools, among others.

Q: How do managed services play a role in your solution?

A: Outside of the platform features that you don’t see anywhere else, we feel we’re really changing the game with our managed services offering. By providing up-front auditing, analysis, and design, process orchestration and business rule design, along with full implementation and support, we’re able to architect a solution for each client that focuses on their ideal process flow. This allows business communities to manage process flows without going through IT, and this also tends to free up valuable IT resources to focus on more important things.

Q: You’ve recently released a new logo after a months-long planning and development process; could you tell us something more?

A: The logo itself is something we liked right away when we saw it. Visually it’s just so different from what everyone else is doing in our industry, which often is a styled typeface or a random symbol abstractly suggesting integration or technology. At the same time, we modified it a bit to infer what we do, and we should be able to extend it in a cool way across all of our other branding initiatives, which is the next step.

Q: What advantage does EDIAdmin have over its competitors?

A: Most of our competitors provide out-of-the-box solutions, whereas with CHIP we offer a solution framework that quickly adapts to client requirements. If you know the iPaaS space, you know that patchwork MFT, VAN, and EDI translation software, to name a few pieces of the puzzle, simply aren’t a fit or won’t scale for many enterprise operations. In fact, we sometimes provide an integration layer for what some would consider competitive products. The other big platform differentiator is an advanced feature set that we’ve built out the past fifteen years.

Another significant factor is what I mentioned earlier – our managed services layer. By providing things like up-front architecture, implementation and support, we offer services and a partnership that isn’t built into competitor models or culture.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: Our plan is to continue to grow, as we have done each year since we started, but at a higher rate. We have evolved our platform and service to such a degree that we now have the most mature solution available, while the iPaaS industry is set to explode as migration to the cloud is snowballing. As a result it’s good timing to take on a more aggressive growth trajectory.

Our vision is to continue to build CHIP and our managed services offering to satisfy supply chain integration needs. This can take on many forms and iterations, so the plan is to stay connected to our clients and let them shape our direction.
