Below is our recent interview with Alessandro Fard, CEO of Create Ape:

Q: For those who haven’t heard of it, what is the best way to describe Create Ape?

A: Create Ape is a full-service digital agency specializing in user experience and conversion. We go beyond just making something ‘look pretty’ and instead delve into the cognitive and visceral experience users have when they interact with our designs. The goal is to create experiences that are both memorable and impactful for the user thus increasing overall conversion for clients. This translates, at the end of the day, to higher sales.

Q: Alessandro, can you tell us something more about your background? How did you get to where you are today?

A: I’ve been a user experience/user interface designer for almost 20 years. I was tinkering in computers and the Internet when I was in high school and while in college got a very lucrative job at a tech start up. Within two years I finished my bachelor’s degree in visual commutation and moved on to a full-time role at GSN/Sony.

Q: Can you give us insights into your services?

A: Since then I have been fortunate enough to work on many different projects with many different brands. Such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Yahoo, true car,, Marriott, American Express, and many more.

When working at (which eventually became TrueCar) I was fortunate enough to be part of a lucrative IPO. I was able to leverage that to start Create Ape.

Q: There are a lot of web design agencies out there, but what makes yours superior?

A: My design ideology (and the ideology of our agency) is fairly simple. We are advocates for the user, within the business goals. Well this is not necessarily traditional from a UX design standpoint I believe that it best allows for the success of both the user and the business which is imperative for the ongoing service that the businesses provide.

Ultimately what makes us different from other agencies is twofold:

Our ability to be agile and adapt and our voracious desire to transcend the traditional client-vendor relationship in order to truly become valued partners for our clients. This can be seen in various ways such as:

  • Offering incredibly competitive retainer rates that allow almost 50% reduction in typical agency costs.

  • Adapting to our clients existing processes instead of making them adopt to our own, or creating new processes at their request that fit their current teams.

Q: Who are your clients and what are some of the key challenges you’re helping them solve?

A: Our current client base is fairly broad at the moment. We work in various industries such as healthcare, tech start ups, e-commerce, financial, and more. Our clients are all over the country with a high concentration on the west and east coast.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: Our plans for the future are fairly simple. Keep the course. Keep providing outstanding value at competitive prices. We know that if our clients are successful and happy ultimately we will be successful as well.
