Tech Startup Index Helps You Visually Build Your Own Beautiful Dashboards With The Tools You Already Use

Listen to this article

In 2020 Index announced $2.6 million seed investment from David Sacks, Gradient Ventures, Slack, and other investors. Below is our recent interview with Index Co-founders: Xavier Pladevall and Eduardo Portet:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Index?

A: Tools already used within an organization — no engineers needed. Tools on the market today are overly-complex. Index’s mission is to dissolve that bottleneck and empower everyone in a company to define metrics for themselves and their teams. Index is in private beta but is already used by clients spanning a variety of industries from fintech to hospitality.

Q: How did the idea behind Index come about?

A: The idea came to use while working at Facebook where we built similar dashboards for different teams but realized how hard it was for non-technical folks to use these types of tools. Our goal is to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical people inside a company.

Q: Can you describe a typical use case or customer scenario for your solution?

A: For sure! So imagine an operations associate a growing technology company. To define and track their metrics they might have to download CSVs from different source (e.g. Salesforce, Stripe, etc.). Then they do some calculations and create some graphs and finally they share those insights w/ their teammates. This individual has to repeat this process every time they want to update their graphs.

With Index, someone can build their dashboards by pulling in data from different sources into one place and then sharing it w/ their team automatically via Slack or Email. All without having to write a single line of code.

Q: What’s your revenue model? How are you funded?

A: Index has a SaaS business model where we charge customers a $20/editor/month fee in order to use certain premium features of the product (e.g. premium integrations, +25 blocks per workspace, etc.). A premium $50/editor/month tier is available upon request for premium “enterprise” features including SSO, audit logs, etc.
