Q: How did the idea behind MightyTV come about?
A: I was continually frustrated with the discovery experience around video and wanted to take a different approach that featured more personalized recommendations and group discovery.
Q: Could you tell us something more about your app, how is it different than other video streaming apps?
A: MightyTV offers a hyper-personalized experience which means that every user has their own unique model and recommendations. Our UI allows us to learn a lot faster and to offer recommendations that are above basic metadata like genre. The social integration allows friends’ choices to influence the recommendations while still respecting the users’ personalize taste.

MightyTV also features trending videos across the entire service and amongst friends. A comprehensive search allows querying across the Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, HBO, iTunes, Showtime, Cinemax, and Crackle catalogs in one place.

Q: How would you convince the reader to start using MightyTV?
A: Video discovery is one of those headaches that everyone shares and understands. MightyTV is unique in how fast and fun the solution becomes, especially with friends. Our average users find more than 10 videos to watchlist in the first few sessions.

Q: What can we expect from you in the future? What are your plans?
A: We just launched on Android and added a new feature called MQ which shows a profile of which genres and actors that user likes based on their swipes. We’re continually working on improving our machine learning and recommendation capabilities. We are now as accurate at 50 swipes as we were at 200 when we launch in April. Our next major release will bring MightyTV to the Facebook messenger platform later this fall.
