Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to National Safety Solutions?
A: National Safety Solutions was founded by Grant Toutant after he sold his shares in an Industrial Construction Company, and Duncan Smith who has spent the better part of his career focused on Safety Inspections and Safety Management.
Grant and Duncan both expressed the difficulties in enforcing safety policies in their previous positions and so we set out to leverage technology to increase awareness of risks, prevent avoidable incidents, and minimize safety related incidents across North America.

Q: Can you give us insights into your products?
A: The Start Right 360 Walk Around System has a number of configurations that help to develop, monitor and enforce vehicle inspections including Smartphone and Industrial options, Disabling or Audible alarms, and our Web-based Dashboard is available for monitoring the inspections from any browser.
We also offer Plant Nappy which is a spill prevention product that absorbs hydrocarbons from oil and allows water to pass through the walls of the product. This is placed under an oil leak or potential spill zone to prevent environmental contamination.
Q: Why National Safety Solutions? What sets you apart from your competition?
A: At National Safety Solutions, our goal is to see a world where work related injuries are a rarity. We have a team of experts in Safety and Technology which provides us a unique set of skills to be able to interpret the challenges we will face both now and in the future.
What sets us apart is we are determined to find answers. We look at problems and challenges that most people over look and find solutions that will simplify processes and the effort involved in keeping people, environment, assets, and reputation safe and intact.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your business and how did you overcome it?
A: As an early startup, the biggest challenge we have faced is working through the red tape in these larger organizations. The large companies that appear to have the largest risk of work related incidents are also the most difficult to get a final sale. We have been overcoming this challenge by attending events, conferences, and networking groups while keeping in touch with executives and safety professionals on a regular basis so that our brand and products become a strong candidate to solve the pain points that most companies experience.

Q: What are the company’s plans and goals for the future?
A: We plan to continue innovating in safety related products and training. Our mission is to remove complacency and minimize risks to see an accident and incident free work place become the standard environment in North America and beyond.
We are currently working on several software solutions related to worker safety and decreasing the response time of safety officers on the work site.
We are expecting the first release to be available in Q3 2020.
