While there are many good software solutions out there, they were convinced that there had to be a better way than just some software that required lots of interactions and constantly disrupted their workflow. So they put their heads together, pooled their experience and know-how and came up with ZEI°. To find out more about their tracking solution we interviewed Vanessa Ulrich, CMO at Timeular:
Q: Vanessa, you’ve recently announced $1.12 Million Seed Founding Round; could you tell us something more?
A: At the beginning of June 2017, we closed a $1.1m seed round by the Austrian VC Speedinvest, a business angel and by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency. After a successful Kickstarter campaign at the end of last year during which we generated over 3.000 preorders, we were in a good position to secure the funding that we needed to further develop ZEI° and to accelerate our growth. We will also use the funds to create a number of substantial new features and services and to support our planned expansion to the US at the end of 2017.

Q: Tell us something more about your ZEI° product, how does it work?
A: ZEI° is the first tangible time tracking solution on the market. Our goal was to create something that makes time tracking as effortless and accurate as possible. After a period of development and lots of iterations, we created ZEI°, an 8-sided cube that connects via Bluetooth to our software on your phone or computer. You assign your tasks or projects to each side of the device, and the software will automatically start tracking the time for the side that is facing up. You can then access customizable reports in our software and easily export and process your data. We also offer lots of integrations with other time tracking solutions such as Toggl, JIRA and many more.
Q: Why is now the time for a technology solution like ZEI?
A: Nowadays, there are apps and software for everything. And while there are many great software solutions for time tracking, we quickly realized that it would need something physical that can be easily integrated into our users’ workflows to really solve the pain of time tracking. We decided very consciously to go against the trend of creating yet another software solution and the feedback has been tremendously positive – people love the fact of having a physical device on their desk that simply does its job and helps them to stay focused.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: Right now, our focus lies on further optimizing ZEI° by adding the right features and integrations that our customers are asking for. Our goal is to not only help people to track their time easily but also to become more aware of how they spend their time. In the long run, we want to enable our users to take action towards working more productively and to get more done in less time. For this, we are developing a unique automated productivity coaching that will give our users personalized tips on how to work more productively.
