Below is our recent interview with Maxime Augay, designer of Airhood:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Smart Product Concepts?
A: Smart Product Concepts was established over twenty years ago. As a veteran in the manufacturing industry, they have continued to design products that revolutionize the cooking experience for people around the world. Headquartered in Hong Kong and with state-of-the-art facilities on the Chinese mainland, we continue to develop long-term partnerships with our clients so they can expand their portfolios, build new revenue streams, capture new audiences, get products to market fast, and deliver better customer experiences.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: Airhood is heading full speed towards the fulfillment of its crowdfunding campaign. All units have already been produced, the containers for Europe are already on the high seas and the units for North America are about to be loaded onto the vessel. In addition, we already offer the product for pre-orders in the US and plan to start shipping those in January as well. Apart from that, Airhood exhibited at the “electronica 2022”, a big electronics trade fair located in Munich, and received plenty of positive feedback from fair visitors.
Q: What is the story behind Airhood?
A: Like many great innovations, this came from a personal need because I found my own extractor hood at home difficult to clean – and frankly, not up to his own aesthetic tastes. After submitting the product design for my final paper, I won the Cologne 2019’s “Pure Talent Contest – Living Kitchen Selection” with his design concept and he decided to bring the AirHood™ to reality. I partnered up with Smart Product Concepts (SPC) to ensure the concept is brought to life successfully.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: We plan to make Airhood permanently available in more regions worldwide. This includes not only the opening of our web shop for the European market, but also sales through distributors and retailers in several geographies.
Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: Something that no one knows about us is that we have our own large kitchen in the office where we cook fresh food every single day. But it’s not only what you cook, but also how you cook.
